Jim Hughson - HNIC Play By Play Man

Maybe now in the playoffs we can get some good luck with our own play by play man calling some games....

Congrats to Jim on doing the Saturday games!!

This is awesome news. Cuthbert and Hughson were both my favorites, but as long as its Hughson and not Don Wittman, or god forbid Mark Lee. Ewwwwww....

Congrats to Jim!

Now we can hear the best play by play guy in hockey do most regular season games, Saturday nights, and playoffs! (untill the third or fourth round that is) and when we can't listen to him, we have Shorty and Tom on PPV and the Radio. Although I'm guessing Greg Millen is still his broadcast partner.

Yup, says that in the cbc.ca article. So a great move to get Hughson, but still having Millen there equals that out quick. Let's hope Hughson argues with him like he does with Garrett, that would be funny....

great move by CBC. I really don't understand why people liked Cuthbert...his voice is way too whiney IMO. The one thing left for CBC to do is can that jackass Millen; I just cannot believe he still has a job.

Awesome. He's the only guy that should call Canucks game. Well, Larscheid is great too.

I love Jim Hughson with John Garret on Sportsnet, but I'd honestly rather keep Cuthbert on CBC, he is just as good. Hughson and Garrett have great chemistry together. Yes, I know they'll still be together on Sportsnet, but I really like the distinction between Sportsnet and CBC of having different announcers.

Glad to hear he's staying on Sportsnet too. Otherwise the prospect of Peter Loubardias doing PBP at the NHL would cause me to go on a shooting rampage.

That's what went through my mind when I was first told this..I was ready to pull out my hair until I found out he's staying at sportsnet.
