I'd do the Devils deal personally. I don't think our 1st will be in the 5-8 range.

The deal posited here presumes that the pick is in the 5-8 range, in which case I say no. If it's more in the 14-16 range, then I probably bite the bullet and do it.

Lets say they end up having the 10th pick... Would you do this deal? Just curious

Let me put it this way: which would you rather have, 1 year of Rolston and an 18 year old Strome, or 1 year of Hemsky, $900,000 in cap space, and whoever you can draft with the 31st overall?

More than likely. We got first round value with a high 2nd last year in Merrill, I think we can do it again.

its a tough situation with Hemsky's injury history. i think he would fit in very well on a line with Elias and Zubrus, but i hope that Lou uses the pick on a Hubredeau/Strome/Murphy. if they aren't available i would pull the trigger but i doubt Edmonton is interested with those guys off the table

If we could get an extension on Hemsky, like 5 years 20 mill I would go for it. Whoever is drafted at 10th overall, more than likely will not be able to put up a bit under a ppg + basically a late first, and Edmonton can gets a top 10 pick plus a veteran top 6 forward instead of possibly losing Hemsky to FA for nothing.

NJ has more than enough left shot potential mid/bottom pairing like Chorney. I would just take him out of the deal.

NJ would want Petry as the prospect coming back not Chorney. Makes it a a little rich for my liking but it's more what it would take if their pick is in the 5-8 range.

After his recent showing Plante has zero value. He's a long term project and looks right now to be a potential bottom pairing. Cogliano hasn't been able to put it together and is basically a third liner. So the your package is a 2nd line RW, a third line C/wing a bottom d-man and a 3rd...

Well Hemsky would solve our RW depth. But he's not necessarily healthy always, and I'm not sure we would be able to resign him. How's his defensive game?

Not a bad deal

I think the OP meant to include ATL's 1st Rounder with Stewart.

He's a +3 on the worst team in the league.. I wouldn't consider his defensive game great because I honestly don't notice him in the defensive zone sometimes.. he's not a shutdown guy but he clearly gets it done because no one complains about him defensively.

Yes to the Jersey deal, no to the ATL deal.

Tambo should of traded Hemsky at the trade deadline. At this point his value is pretty low.

Maybe. Hemsky is definitely better value for the money than Rolston. But I don't know if that's worth giving up the highest draft pick the Devils have had in 15 years.

That Stewart trade is VERY bad for the oilers

I wouldn't do Cogs straight for Stewart

Do you have the right Stewart? We are talking about the Tony Stewart right?

ugh. is it just me or do oilers hang up the phone on both these deals.
i cant believe hemsky is getting so underrated here.
honestly i think he is part of the oilers going forward. tambellini should try to re-sign him rather than trade him. he is still yet to reach his prime whereas someone like rolston (although he could provide some veteran leadership to a young oilers team) is way past his prime. the hemsky "injury" bit is blown a bit out of proportion i think.

Hemsky's value over rolston is much higher than moving up ~20 picks up in this draft, let alone ADDING chorney.

1: Edmonton doesn't do the first deal. No way Jersey's pick is going to be in that range with the way they've been playing.

2: Assuming the OP means Stewart from the Blues, that's just downright insulting.
