Thx for link
"Examining the Los Angeles roster as currently constituted, even if they can bring back Palffy (they can't talk to him until August 1), they're in dire need of offensive forwards.

The delicious potential irony of pursuing Paul Kariya isn't going to materialize, as he's likely to fly back to Anaheim or north to Vancouver, but Taylor has to give serious consideration to Mike Modano (rumored to join Brett Hull in Phoenix) or Markus Naslund, should they come free. "
Imagine: Kariya - Modano - Naslund that would be a sick line

I'm ok with Naslund and Karyia, but not with Modano.

Well even if he does whine alot, when it comes to centers that are avaliable he stands out. In the long run I'd rather take whiney than injured(Lindros,Allison,Zhamnov).

I take it you never heard him say that he could never play under a salary cap and something to the effect that his dogs couldn't live off of 400 bucks a week or some nonsense like that.

I don't know if you are calling me a dumb ****er, but you need to settle down. No one ever said he wasn't a great player, because he is, and no one said he was a cancer.

Sry if it came out as an insult to you didnt at all have any attention of anything remotely close to that - have high respect for you. I can almost guarantee you that every Kings player said that at some time about the CAP some players just spoke their minds while others didn't. Sry i'm just pissed because i used to like him and he's become so hated and underrated that i just feel sympathy for the guy and try standing up for him

No worries. I like Modano as a player a hell of a lot. But as a person, he's right up there with McCabe and the other idiots who said they wouldn't ever play under a cap but are now going to, unless of course they suddenly retire.

I remind the Modano lovers that he's 35. Do you think the Kings will be interested to sign a fat contract with a player who already gave his best to this sport? TL stated clearly "they'll look for help via free-agency to win now and in the FUTURE". And Modano's future is not that long...

With a salary cap you can't make the mistake to give a ton of bucs to a player who doesn't deserve them. Mike has been a great player, if he'd be 25 I'll be very happy to see him in LA, it goes without saying, a bad season can happen. But maybe the fact he struggled in his last campaign is not a coincidence, he's getting older.

Just think about this scenario: the Kings sign him to a 2/3 year contract worth 4M per year (I doubt he'll sign for less). What happens if he has another 44 pts 14 goals -21 type season? Do you think he'll be an easy player to trade? We'll be stuck with him.

We don't need him, plain and simple.

oh come on reaper...thats in the past...lets move on and add vets that can win.

when you're negotiating contracts, sometimes you have to do some posturing...they lost...so lets move on and play some hockey.

I'm guessing that the Kings are going to be spending in the low $30-mm range.

If you take the projected CAP figure of $39-mm and multiply that by a safety factor of 10% and subtract that from the projected figure you're at roughly $35-mm. Now leave yourself a little wiggle room for injuries and acquisitions say $3-$4-mm and you're in the $31 to $32-mm range...

We might want to build our "fantisy teams" around a $31-$32-mm budget...

I also hope Modano never comes to LA. I don't feel sorry for a guy that becomes a headcase, when he loses his millions on bad investments. He was absolutely disgraceful his last season in Dallas, and it mostly had to do with his off ice issues. Grab your balls dude! You're a millionare for ***** sake!

If this team claims to be serious, make a serious effort to sign Joe Thornton......long term. I originally forgot that we would lose picks, if Boston didn't match, but now that I think about it......who cares. These guys don't come around every year. Hopefully something like this would put us with the top ten clubs, so I wouldn't feel that bad losing a late first round pick. We haven't done much with them anyways........maybe excluding Boyle, and Tambellini. It's my opinion that if you're not in the top ten of picks anyways.........it just becomes a gamble.......a 5 - 7 year gamble.

Why not? We'd have a great defensive 1/2 punch down the middle with Modano and Conroy. I truly believe that Modo would excel under Murray like he did with Hitch.
