Helm, Datsyuk, Abdelkader.

HM: Draper (I had to choose him or Abs, and Abs is a hometown boy)

Datsyuk
Helm
Draper

HM: Abdelkader. I give Draper the edge on the 3rd star. He's the veteran and all.

Another 3rd period defensive collapse, but luckily Halak is awful so they pulled it out.

They were reeeeeallly close to being 5 points up and 1 game down on the Hawks after this weekend. Things go a little differently in the 3rd tonight and they don't get that late goal last night, and that's what they'd be looking at. As it is, they're 9 points up and the Hawks play the Caps tomorrow. Big, big weekend for the Central. Hopefully the Hawks lose in regulation and the Wings get a 6 point swing.

The Wings looked better for the first half of this game. After the 3rd goal they basically shut the engine off and went into a defensive shell. Turns out they're not very good at the defensive shell. Gotta work on that - maybe find a way to play good defense AND hold onto the puck.

1. Datsyuk. No explanation needed
2. Kronwall. Very good in all zones and had 3 points tonight. Didn't see any bad plays from him.
3. Helm. It was between him or Abby, but Helm was just all over the St. Louis defense on the forecheck. I know he isn't the 4th or 5th best player on this team, but his work ethic shows in his play and that is why he gets points in these things.

Helm, Dats, Abby.

Kronwall was a HM. He was great tonight in the offensive zone, had that great outlet pass on Abby's goal. He was a little shaky to me in his own end, but that might have been because he logged so many minutes tonight.

1. Datsyuk
2. Helm
3. Kronwall.

Helm just keeps on going. I'm wating for Flip, or Z, or Franzen, or someone, to step up. But they don't. But Helm keeps going. His line was the only line with a pulse in the first 20.

Helm-Draper continue to be a good duo at ES and on the PK. Draper was also 8-1 on the faceoffs tonight and if he keeps up this play, he'll be a tough guy to scratch in the playoffs.

Helm's line has basically been treated as the 3rd line for the past few games as Babcock usually rolls 3 lines in the last 5 to 10 minutes and its Modano's line that rides the pine. Other than that, they pretty much play roughly the same ES minutes, so one could argue that Modano's basically been demoted at ES to 4th line center.

Meanwhile, over the last 10 games or so, Kronwall has been promoted to the top pairing on the PK with Stuart. Lidstrom usually only goes out there if one of the regulars (Stuart, Kronwall, Salei or Ericcsson) is in the box. Its also the 2nd straight game that Kronwall-Stuart have consistently been paired together at ES.

Helm
Kronwall

...Although I do feel that Jimmy is due some respect for his performance. He made a number of great saves.

Give me a dollop of the Datsyuk/Helm/Stuart trio...Dats was out of his mind last night.

The refs last night sucked out loud...and I'm not one that usually complains about the officiating. Too many soft calls that went against the Wings.

Is Babcock saving Lidstrom for the playoffs? If the Wings can make it actually.

1. Kronwall 3 points and 26 min, leading the team in IT.
2. Datsyuk, that was a move
3. Helm

Datsyuk
Kronwall
Abdelkader(was probably his best game of the season so I'll give him props over Helm who was also/again very good)
