Johansson may not be weak but he's not exactly strong either, even if he may be subtly effective in sealing players off along the boards. His puck protection has improved but I still wouldn't call it a consistent strong point. He probably won't be close to physically mature for another two seasons.

i will also disagree, i don't think he is weak at all... may be a little undersized but, he is maturity personified. I have not seen too many kids change/improve as much as Mo Jo has, in such a short time. He is contributing and delivering when he has to, when he is plugged into "here and there " on the 1st or 2nd lines. I'm becoming a big fan.

p.s. another player who "thinks" the game, he makes right decisions with the puck much more often then he doesn't.

I absolutely love the way Johansson passes, skates and shoots. LOVE. Sorry a little carried away.

His strength will improve as he gets a little older and grows more into being a man. Having Arnott as a mentor can only improve the skill set he already has.

I'm liking what I see from Boyd Gordon too. You can see his intensity in the face off circle and whenever he is on the ice. It appears that his back or whatever his problem was has improved. The infected foot will have been a one off.

Indeed...mojo is physically immature but to call him weak is just plain wrong. He isn't big enough yet to fight through some players but then again he is just 19....

The Ron White joke fits oh so well when speaking of MJ. "you can't fix stupid".

In this context MJ has all the tools of speed, hands, creativity, vision and intelligence to be one hell of a steal in the draft. The fact he is 19/20 and isn't strong enough "yet" is not of great concern. His natural physical maturation will take care of this.

MJ seems strong enough to me. I dont expect him to work out like crazy and become a beast. That is not his game IMO - he is shifty. A little more strength perhaps, but more learning how to use his body for prehits and shielding of the puck.

How many rookies come over from Europe not having any experience on the smaller ice surface of NA? Especially a 19 year old kid and have the success he has had while being thrust into a top role on a top team...not too many. He has improved every aspect of his game as the year has worn on....faceoffs, board work, passing, even shooting....and well you can't teach speed.
