Sens On Pace For Just 6 With 30 Points

How bad has Ottawa been? Well, they are on pace for just 5 players with 30 pointss, 6 if Milan Michalek returns and gets a point. After tonight's game, a 6 - 3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres, the Sens have just 3 players with at least 31 points. Those players are Erik Karlsson ( 40 pts.) , Jason Spezza ( 39 pts. in 49 gp) , and Daniel Alfredsson ( 31 pts. in 54 gp ( he's injured) ) . Nick Foligno and Sergei Gonchar ( 27 pts. each) are the only Senators besides Karlsson, Spezza, Alfie and maybe Michalek that have a realistic chance of hitting 30 points. The only other Senators with 15 points are Ryan Shannon (19 pts.) and Peter Regin, who has 17 pts. and is out for the year. So, pretty much what i'm saying is that Erik Karlsson, Jason Spezza, Daniel Alfredsson, Milan Michalek, Nick Foligno, and Sergei Gonchar are the only Senators who will hit 30 points. This means we need forwards

This is why I don't want to see Clouston back next year. I'll admit he does know how to play a decent Defensive system, and he has the team playing as a 5 man unit. The big problem is that he doesn't understand the Offensive game at the NHL level.

We're often too passive of a team when it comes to 5 on 5 play, and we don't have much in the ways of set plays. It's very much a process of dumping pucks in, feeding it back to the point and crashing the net. We don't have many set plays, there's very little movement on our PP, and as a result we don't get too many scoring chances.

I'll admit guys like Fisher and Kelly, and having them play big minutes all the time is part of the problem. We got an awful lot of talent on this team though, and we ought to be getting more mileage out of our forwards.

If we have RNH then we only need forwards like Foligno to score.

Worth noting we traded Kelly and Fisher. If we had two kids up here all year instead of just the last month, we would probably have a couple more, but two other 30+ point players were here at the time.

Kelly, Fisher, Kovalev traded

Michalek, Alfie, Regin injured

Is it really surprising OP?

PS : The game ended 6-4 and not 6-3

I'm really impressed with Spezza. Very excited to see this team healthy next year, good or bad.

I remember the season starting threads were everyone was projected to have career years - Regin was going to score 30 - wish it were so.
