Good to see! Ryan gets a chance to try out with the American Olympic team. Should help his confidence some, too.

Great news for Ryan. What are the chances he actually makes it?

No invite for RJ Umberger

Kesler's pretty far down in the center depth, so I don't think he'll make the team unless they decide to roll some checking lines.

It just amazing enough he got an invite at all. He must have impressed someone.

Great for Kesler. I think he could make the team as a 3rd 4th liner/back-up forward. He could play wing too. at 6-2, 225 hes a valuable asset.

I don't think they expect him to even contend for a spot. I suspect he's just there to get used to the process, etc, for when he is of that calibre.

Exactly..get some experience to see what its like when players like him have to take over in 5 years or so.

Didn't Yan Stastny make the team last time around?

maybe team USA is just trying to get some future talent involved in small roles to build towards the next wave of USA players, seeing as how guys like Modano, Weight, Hull, Roenick, Amonte, etc are near the end of their playing days especially in terms of Olympic years... this Olympics is probably the last one for a lot of them... makes sense to bring some youth in for experience for the future.

USA Hockey doesn't have anyone... there's a big gap. The old guys like Hull etc and after that, theres no one.
It would be a cinch for Kesler to make the team.
