I know if you sign a player from the Euro leagues, he has to pass through waivers, but Rundblad was signed last summer, not sure if it makes a difference.
He'll play Worlds after his season is over.

Hope these guys can clik together next year.

For the future, not sure if Ottawa will be able to afford both guys if they become elite players.
Why not?

I wonder if we'll see Rundblad + Karlsson as a pairing in the WC.

I can just imagine them skating circles around some of the weaker teams.

That would be a horrible pairing.

Then you throw Cowen in the mix.

Teams can afford several elite players. Right now we have only one signed long term.

I can see Karlsson commanding maybe 3 - 4 mil a year going forward as he matures and improves his defensive game, and Rundblad, assuming he reaches potential I could see anywhere between 4 and 6.

I think by that time that Spezza will probably be about a year away from getting a lighter paycheque.

Assuming that this plays out...

Karlsson 4, Rundblad 6, Spezza 6, Landeskog? 5.5, Cowen 4

That's not so bad. Look at a team like Chicago paying big stars, Pittsburgh, etc. Lots of teams shell out money for big names and talents.
