Id rather have Derek Smith in the lineup over Carkner he is much better at moving the puck and is way better positionally. He also appears to have calmed Gonchar down, pretty dissapointed he isnt staying up.

I don't think Smith has calmed Gonchar down. Gonchar has played like this all year. The difference being that Elliott was letting in easy positional saves all year and making everyone look like crap.

If you ask me Gonchar is our 2nd best Defenseman behind Karlsson. People rag on him right now because that's what fans do. Once the rest of the team starts to pick it up, people will clue in to the fact that this guy plays all facets of the game reasonably well.

I would take Smith over Carkner next year if it was not for the enforcer position he can play. I would take Smith over Kuba (bounce back year or not) and maybe even Lee, who is better of late (Buffalo game excepted)

Can we meet in the middle and say both? Smiths first pass has been dynamite takes the heat off gonchar when his partner is constantly giving the puck away.

Have you ever considered you might actually be Curtis McIlhenney? These are the usual symptoms

Let's all take a dose of reality...

He's a Corey Locke, a good quality AHL'er, meh/awful NHL'er.

Leave him where he belonds.
