Times are pretty damn good if Ryan Smyth's ice time is all anyone wants to take the time to complain about.

A key takeaway from last game for me was the near-clinical precision our defense has become. It's a joy to watch after years (hell, decades) of sub-par defensive teams the Kings have iced. I give all the coaches a ton of credit for building a team that is built to win in the playoffs. Now they just need to get there!

I thought the Kings ship was SUNK after that 2-10-0 run which seems like eons ago now. Time have certainly changed. The team has settled down and the consistency on display of late is remarkable. You know the Kings haven't lost twice a row in regulation since mid-January? Crazy!

Now they just need get into the playoffs because I think the Kings can definitely do some damage if they can get there.

Want to know how bad Smyth is right now? We stopped complaining about Westgarth...

Who would have predicted the turn the Avs have taken?
True enough but then it is an excellent way of pointing out the many ways of interpreting the term, isn't it?

I honestly can't think of our defence having ever been better than it is today. Not once in our existence to the best of my memory.

And a HUGE amount of the credit for that defense goes to Dean Lombardi for building it and Terry Murray for preaching and teaching it...I dish it both ways. Fair is fair.

Agreed.

The Kings D is pretty amazing. It's nice to not have to dread when a certain d-man is on the ice. Every one of our D's are solid.

And would we really be afraid to have to give Drewiski, Muzzin or Voynov #6 minutes if someone went down in the playoffs?

Agreed. Lombardi was smart to stack the defense with Scuderi, Mitchell, and Greene and even for signing Poni in the offseason (overpaid sure, but he's been great playing in a shutdown role...hope we can resign him for 2 or 3 years at 1.5 per). And Murray is a big part of Kopitar and Johnson becoming the players they are today.
