What's your ideal (somewhat realistic) goaltending option moving forward?

Inspired from another thread when I questioned people's - what it seems, at least - massive support for Craig Anderson as the long-term solution for the goaltending debacle that is this franchise, I'd like to open up the debate on some other goaltending options that might be available.

Just for the sake of argument:
- Vokoun and Bryzgalov didn't want to sign here. Otherwise I hope everyone would want them.
- The trade return for Bernier and Schneider would both be a 2nd rounder, Patty Wiercioch and Nick Foligno.

I would sign Anderson for 2 years.

Although I like Schneider, it's kind of hard to tell how he would work out for the Sens since he won't have the leagues best team playing in front of him.

Bernier I haven't personally watched much of, but his stats look good.

In any case, Anderson won't cost us any assets to re-sign and we seen that he can play good for this team. Don't really see Schneider/Bernier being huge upgrades at this point and especially if we're "rebuilding/retooling" for the next 2 years.

If Anderson doesn't want to re-sign and Theodore is the next best available option, then I would look into possible trade scenarios for one of Schneider/Bernier.

Don't you think that's a remarkably low offer for Schneider?

Anderson is a good rebuild goalie if he is a 3.5 cap hit or less. Two years term. Worst case scenario is another Gerber/Leclaire meltdown and two more solid firsts. First you get the sugar, then you get the power, then you get the women...

Option 2. Re-Sign Anderson for 2 years, have Lehner learn from him as his backup.

If we can get Andersson for two years and allow Lehner to play in the AHL it would be ideal. Bernier or Schneider will cost us and teams will want prospects or picks.

Andersson at 3M would be fair with McIhenny as the back-up.

With the .875 Elliott is putting up since the trade, I doubt he plays in the NHL next year. He has no stamina.

Sign Andersson for 2 years
Bring back Alex Auld for 1 year

Battle of the baldies commence!

After Next year Lehner comes in as backup.

Andersson doesn't sign then we go for Bryz, Vokoun, Harding on July st. Don't see Van or LA trading there top goalie prospects just yet.

Re-sign Anderson 2-4 years.
Sign Harding (ideally), or even Auld or McElhinney as backup.

I don't know why anyone would pick the option to re-acquire Elliott, unless we're committed to tanking the next couple of years, and hopefully get a couple more blue chip prospects to have a good and young team when Lehner is ready.

I would say re-sign Anderson for 2-3 more years, to mentor Lehner until he is ready to be our #1 guy.

There's no way Anderson signs a 2 year deal here. You guys are out to lunch if you think he'll go for that.

I don't think he would sign a two yr deal either I think it will be 3 yrs @ $3.5 mil per yr. I also think they re-sign MacLhinney for 1 yr. How soon does everyone think Lehner will be ready to be a backup in Ottawa? IMO he will be playing in Bingo for a couple of yrs & be the backup for Anderson's 3rd yr with the Sens. I wouldn't be surprised either if Anderson signs an extenson after that & eventually is the backup to Lehner. I could see Anderson playing the rest of his career here in Ottawa.

I'm pretty sure that Anderson wants to play, so I can see that as the only reason he signs HERE for anything under two years; however, at the same time I think he wants a long term deal, along the lines of 3-4 years.

Everyone saying that it's a low offer for Schneider needs to look at what Halak got...

Also throwing this out their but Washington has 3 very good goalies right now - one of them being RFA Varlamov. I know we should all be scared of injury prone starters but does anyone want to take a chance on him?

Andersson for 3 years (i want his contract up when 1st pick (Couturier, RNH), Rundblad, Lehner (pretty sure he slides this year) and Cowen are up). Chances are he prob wants 4+ years ... Well have decent amount of cap space going forward its the term i wonder about. It cant be more than 3 though cannot, not with those guys needing raises

I don't know if I'm ready to commit to Anderson with a long term deal. For all we know he could back to playing like **** like he was with with the Avs earlier this year. A 1 or 2 year deal is what'd I like to see happen.

If the chance of signing appears, i fully expect Murray to go after him.

I tracked Harding closely in Minnesota and he was a special talent and had all the fundamentals of a great goaltender.

I think he can rebound if given a chance.

I'd love Harding if Anderson doesn't re-sign. The main thing that scares me is his injury history. He's got a great glove hand though, and he's been in Backstrom's shadow for way too long. Kid deserves a chance.

I can't see Anderson signing for any less than 3 years. I do hope we are able to sign him, then I hope he doesn't go to **** after.
