Fans of last year's avatars can plug "what can you do?" or the more recent "it is what it is" into that as well.
I'm all for this. It allows for a general team/board theme with room for creativity from each poster.
Shelley: "60 Minutes? More like 3...if I'm lucky."
Briere and Roo: "60 Minutes? But we've got decorating to do!"
OD: "60 Minutes? Fine, but only for 60 games."
Richards: "60 Minutes? With WHO as my wingers?!"
Carter: "60 Minutes? That's all I get to be lazy?" / "60 Minutes? Then I can tap it?"
Z: "60 Minutes? Then I can go to limo?"
Lappy: "60 Minutes? No problem." / "60 Minutes? I wish."
Homer: "60 Minutes? Then I can trade more picks?"
Pronger: "60 Minutes? Fine, but then I'm going straight back to being a locker room cancer." (probably too much text)
Leino: "60 Minutes? More than enough time for my beard."
My favorite from those might be the Richards one. Early dibs if this happens.
it's not as good as the 60 minutes idea, but something i thought of a few months ago was labeling the flyers as stereotypical family members. a few exambles:
kimmo: the father figure
carter: the lazy older brother
zherdev: the diva/the artistic and misunderstood emo kid
briere + giroux: the "life partners"
pronger: the creepy uncle
lavy: the angry alcoholic
coatse: just the alcoholic
the first panel of the sixty minutes ones could be the 60 minutes logo with a question mark and the flyers logo somehow integrated into the clock. the second panel would have the picture of the flyers player in question with their line, and the third panel could be this picture with "it is what it is" or "what can you do?"
As one of the primary avy makers, I have to tell you I LOVE the 60 minute idea. I liked it when it was first brought up in one of the threads. It allows for a TON of creativity - which is important - yet keeping a common theme.
I will try to come up with some designs (I get back from TX tomorrow), and see if 3 panel gifs will work. Ya have to keep in mind size limitations, and while last years came out really good - gifs aren't as strong for me as regular 'shops.
Now, of course I'm not the end-all-be-all in deciding what the avy will be, but that's my $.02 worth.
BTW - I know we're going to make it regardless, but I'm still not comfortable with changing my avy until the season's over.
Pronger: "60 minutes?" "Where? In the minors?"
Bobrovsky: "60 minutes?" "Bob."
Carcillo: "60 minutes?" "For What? I didn't do it"
Shelley "60 minutes?" "No thanks. I like making 5k a minute."
Lavy "60 minutes?" "Just give me one minute this period"
Homer "60 minutes?" "It is what it is"
While I really like the idea, and the proposals that have already been made, one issue to consider with "60 minutes" for the playoffs is that many games go beyond that. Sorry to pick nits.
That being said, how about the following?
Boucher: "60 minutes." "Bored for the first 20. Out of my mind for the last 40."
Shelley: "60 minutes." "I call that a season."
Nodl: "60 minutes." "I take up half of that going end to end."
Coburn: "60 minutes." "Divide that by 7 brain farts per game gives you ..."
Versteeg: "60 minutes." "Then the yelling, finger-pointing and crying starts ... oh, sorry, that was Toronto."
O'Donnell: "60 minutes." "One hour closer to retirement."
Joey Mullen: "60 minutes." "Still couldn't score."
Bobrovsky: "60 minutes." "How do you spell shuto- ... never mind."
