MARCH SCHEDULE:

QUOTES TO NOTE:

Obviously we laid an egg in Anaheim, and we didn’t play well. It’s how you react and how you come back from that.
We responded very well, came out, played a hard game, and we’ve got to do that again.
- Bryan McCabe

The Isles are playing with confidence, they’re playing well. We know they’re gonna come in like gangbusters, they always do.
So we’ve got to be prepared to play our best, and make sure we’re ready to roll.
- Brandon Dubinsky

We still have things to work on, but we played against a very good team and found a way to win a game.
I just thought we played the right way, just the way we need to play.
- John Tortorella

Don't kid yourself Torts. You need to WIN THE GAMES. Its too late in the season, too close of a race for moral victories. Win big, win ugly it doesn't matter. Just win

Various people. We never had it like this, with one person doing all the GDTs. But as long as Loffen is willing, this is the way to go.

I guess that makes sense. But Montoya or not, the team needs to SCORE GOALS.

This Islander team is playing fast and loose, and they have little left to play for except to ruin the Rangers playoffs hopes

Really? This is exactly the type of game where we generally get shut out. Young, unproven goalie? Ugh. Used to be our property? Even worse...

Anyway, this is an extremely tough game for us. The Islanders have been playing good hockey basically since they had that long losing streak. They're a hard team to play against. They work, and work, and work, and never quit.

This wont be an easy game. Isles have played much better lately. They haven't lost in regulation in 7 games now. As white hot as Debbies have been last couple months, Isles took them to OT twice last week.

I'm not saying Montoya has been bad with the Isles. He's clearly played well, and I'm kinda happy for him. He's a good kid who never had a full opportunity to prove his worth here because of Lundqvist. Nor am I denying that we've had our fair share of struggles against backups and rookies.

But when it comes down to it, I'd rather have Lundqvist between the pipes than pretty much any other goalie in the league, including Montoya.

That being said, this should be an interesting match up. We'll see if Montoya steps up to the challenge of playing for the first time against the team that drafted and later traded him, as well as against the goalie that essentially took his job (not really, but you know what I mean).

I'm excited for this one.

PS: Anyone else hoping we play our whites at home? Just seems more appropriate.

Yup, and don't forget how good the Rangers are at deflecting goals in there own net as of late. The game hasn't even started and it's already 2-0 Islanders. Then throw in the chance that ATL/ NJ and CAR/BUF can both be 3 point games and the stage is set for an epic night of fail.

Just get the 2 points. I don't care how they do it at this point just that it gets done.

The Islanders are the masters of pinball goals and we are the masters at giving them. Please don't deflect any more puck into our own net. Win this.

Wait , Let me recall another Famous , Torts kinda guy ism .... PAP is too slow to Play in th NHL . His 16-29 - 45 on the Isles very legit first line would be 1st on our team . I'll give you we don't have a JT type player but if PAP is too slow for the NHL what us Prospal ? 6-2 Isles with 3 by JT , 1 each by PAP and MM and Comeau. If the Isles decided to pay to the cap ceiling instead of floor with their core they could be serious contenders . They are far closer to being a good team
Than we are

It's not just that they work. They have a lot of young, very talented players. By next year, Tavares will be an elite player, and some of the others are looking awfully good.
