either way you call it, it was a penalty, it was stupid, and it's not what this team is about.


What makes Sean Avery a great player is when he has people doing that to him. thats when hes a difference maker...when hes driving the opposition ballistic because of his antics. when hes taking penalties like that, its just stupid and hurts the team. Sean hasn't been a good player for us all year, hes been horrible with his bad turnovers, and his general vanilla play.

people want to blame Torts for this, but i call a big ole BS on that one, because whenever sean plays his game, Torts has nothing but praise for him. when sean is a difference maker, when he goes and makes things happen, when he plays like he did against dallas a while back (maybe a year or 2 ago?) thats when sean avery earns his money.

he has it in him to be a truly unique player, an asset. as it stands now, he's a 4th liner that doesnt bring much that can't be found elsewhere. id rather have Christensen in the lineup for shootouts than Avery nowadays, and thats not a good thing.

That is definitely interference, and unfortunately something they call less and less since the first year after the lockout.

Pat LaFontaine made a good point last night: The definition of a check is to separate someone from the puck. If they are not in posession of the puck, it is not a check. (this discussion was pre-game and had nothing to do with the Avery thing)

I like Avery a lot too, but also feel he was overrated around here even during his best days.

He had a tendency to wear down when he played the type of game where he was truly effective and he'd either disappear or get injured, or both.

I don't think he will be here too much longer. Maybe even gone next season.

although McCabe scored, he gave the puck too many times for my taste. He seemed to freeze up and panic, making passes that he shouldn't make.

I though dubi's forecheck was good. his line was cycling well.
