So he'll start skating between 1 week after end of season to end of april...then coniditioning time. Unless we make it past a couple rounds, how is he gonna play?
He starts rehab a week from Saturday. Full contact practice in 4-6 weeks.

In 9 days he will be cleared to begin rehab. Then Max set for on ice contact in 3 to 5 weeks. Presumption is for non contact before that.
So I assume he starts doing work out next week, then some skating by himself in 2-3 weeks.

I'm cool with Max returning during the playoffs sometime.

If we play the Ruins in the first round, put Max in during game 7 and watch him score like six goals, as well as banking a shot in off Chara's face, for which Big Z leaves for stitches and doesn't return.

But if it was up to me, no earlier than round 2, assuming there is a round 2.

I suspect that any concern about MaxPac returning
too early would be about the concussion . If there is
no ligiment damage in his neck,a simple, non displaced
fracture, shouldn't be an issue once healed (usually
around 6 weeks or less )
On the other hand, although there are guidelines,it's
not really known when it's safe to return from a serious
concussion.

These are two completely different injuries, but I get where you are coming from.

Not sure why everyone is freaking out here...the neck injury while potentially very serious, was a non-displaced fracture. The healing time for that is anywhere from 4-8 weeks...so if that's healed and he's symptom free from concussion, then there's no reason to keep him out.

Assuming he'll be ready in 5-6 weeks and symptom free from concussion, there won't be anymore/less risk for him whether he plays then, or next September

P.S. - Erik Cole suffered from TWO fractured vertebrae's around the same time Pacioretty got injured was back the in the Cup finals...

It says he can start full contact practise in 3-5 weeks. If he has no setbacks he can start rehab on March 26th, I assume that includes cardio work/skating to get back in shape. 3 weeks of rehab and a week of full contact practise puts him in the lineup for game 1 of the playoffs...which starts in 27 or 28 days.

I was just driving and listening to the Team 990 in my car and almost drove of the road when I heard this news.

THIS IS AWESOME!!!

However, the smartest move would be to let him sit out and recover all season long and come back next season 110%

I just hope he doesn't rush things, I'm more worried about him than the doctors here. If he gets back in great, if not next year and hopefully he is the same player

Ive never had one, but people say that it could take days and a lot of activity for you to feel symptoms. which is why the rehab will be the real test.

When he is cleared by doctors he should and will be back in the lineup. Not really sure what the hoopla is all about, we can't pretend to know more than the medical staff.

Glad to see he's doing well.

The thing is, if he gets another concussion it could be full blown then.

Some players are different than others, look at the Lindros bros compared to others. I think it is genetics and how the neck snaps, making the brain hit the skull.

Different turnouts for different people.

A couple of things. ]

Max has shown no signs of a concussion since day 1.

Yes at the time of the hit he did, but none since. no headaches no dizziness as quoted from him and his agent and the habs.

I think the severe concussion was an assumption by all media due to the speed and intensity of the hit.

The healing of the vertebrae is very similar to any other bone being broken with a spiral fracture. It is not a clear break right through and it was not displaced, which if it was displaced would have been a long term healing process and career threatening.

I am not saying that I expect him back in 6 weeks, but this injury could have been a lot worse (displaced would have been terrible). I don't think they will push him to the point of risking anything.

I like that there are no concussion signs, that was what I was worried most about.

Hmmmm.............

Erik Cole fractures a vertebrae in March.

Max Pacioretty fractures a vertebrae in March.

---------------------

Carolina makes it to the playoffs.

Hopefully Montreal will do the same.

---------------------

Erik Cole makes a dramatic appearance during the Stanley Cup Finals and Carolina wins the Stanley Cup.

Max Pacioretty stands a chance of being back for the playoffs and the Montreal Canadiens will ??????????????????

-----------------------

Stories like this culminate into fairy tale endings for sports' teams. Think Green Bay Packers.

I hear Pacioretty's family has a long line of concussions dating back to the 16th century. Must be evolution.

My point was he re-injured the his knee shortly after returning potentially because it wasn't 100% healed(not fact, just my assumption), something that would have a much worse result were it to happen with a severe concussion.

Who's to say it's not 5 weeks? Wouldn't those 2 extra weeks change the game 1 of playoffs concept?
