Just curious, hypothetically if Hemsky was healthy on another team and was living up to his potential.
Who and what would he be worth if we traded for him from our current roster? ...remember hypothetical question!

Depends on the star units, RelAbsCorsi and Yea The Very True Plus-Minus of the player coming back.

He will finally play 82 next year and have a break out year, the oilers will shell out a huge deal then he will never play more then 40 in a season. The true curse.

this is exactly what I'm waiting for to happen. Except maybe not a full 82 games but probably at least 70. It'll be even stickier to deal with if the Oilers are in the middle of a playoff hunt come the trade deadline too. There's just so many scenarios that can play out, most of which - at least IMO - are negative, setting the team back a year or two potentially in the long run. I have no idea what to think or expect when it comes to Hemmer and management's plans with him.

yes point and laugh at the millionaires who play for the team you cheer for, I'm sure they feel humiliated to know you're pointing and laughing at them. it's absolutely hilarious.

Just as stupid as he would be if he didnt look for a home-run UFA contract in 15 months. He's one of the best skill per size players in the league. Thats a unique skill set that should net him a bloated contract next summer.

Tambellini clearly overvalued Hemsky... because he is still Oiler property. The clear and appropriate move was to trade him for whatever the maximum return was. Even if that was less than what we received for Penner it would have still been the right move for this organization. More likely it would have been higher than Penner, and still very much the right move.

Tambellini should be fired. I am so sick of this amateur. Can't wait to see what overpriced, second-rate UFA he brings in this summer...
Or maybe they were not actively shopping him as some would like to believe, and were only listening to offers. Penner I believe was being pitched not just to the kings .

Hemsky Imo is the player the club would like to see retire as an Oiler and build a culture of commiting to their drafted players like Ottawa has done with Spezza Alfie and Phillips . If we want to hang on to our future stars in Hall Eberle so forth the team needs to start showing loyalty to the players Imo.

"I was kind of in pain the whole year, but I missed last season (after surgery on the other shoulder), so I didn't want to say too much. I wanted to play," Hemsky said. "It was kind of my decision. I didn't want to say too much (about the discomfort)."

So then how did he get hurt? He had a torn labrum all season?

I expect Hemsky to sign for cheap and to be a part of the Oilers top two lines for years to come. No one can deny that the guy has guts and could potentially be a great Oiler in the coming years. As the young guys develop I think the burden will be less on him and that would be good for him as a player.
