VandeVelde is only 1 word, but I don't think he'll mind if his jersey says Vande Velde on the back, as long as it's got the Oiler logo on the front. Good for him to get his first call to the show. I guess this means Horcoff won't be playing tonight afterall.
I'm happy for the young guys getting the call, but a little scared to think about what the lineup might look like with all 3 in it.
Paajarvi - Cogliano - Eberle
Jones - O'Marra - Omark
Giroux - Fraser - Reddox
Jacques - VandeVelde - MacIntyre
good AHL team.
and you forgot about the perennial all star Jason Strudwick anchoring the defense!
By all means we should get blown out tonight.. but I can`t help but think we`re gonna win. There`s a lot of guys in the lineup with something to prove.

Not to mention lost of times play their 1st NHL game and they are amped up and really play well. That said I hope that we lose this game for our draft pick(s) positioning. Here's to hoping that the 3 kids come in and play hard and tough out there, we sure could use some of that out there.

i dont know if i should laugh or cry about that line up
The Barons fans should be the ones crying. Just imagine what their line up looks like. They are only a couple points out of the playoffs with 12 games remaining.
They are actually playing for something and are right in the thick of things. That must be depressing.
Oh yeah and their top goalie got injured last night. Yikes.
Their forward lines will probably look something like this:

From the Barons' website: "Oklahoma City goaltender Martin Gerber, who stopped 35 of 36 Griffins shots in nearly 2 1/2 periods, left the game with 12:18 remaining when he was involved in a pileup with Grand Rapids' Cory Emmerton. Gerber was reportedly taken from the arena on a stretcher."

I nearly collapsed(not really)when I looked up Geber's stats on HDB, and noticed he played 41 games, because I thought the game where he got injured would be his 42nd, but apparently HDB updated their stats that night.
A Griffins player was speeding in on a partial break. Richard Petiot pushed him in full flight right into Gerber. He hurt his neck (yes his big injury last season was a neck injury) and was stretchered to the hospital. Early word is not noticeable structural damage but they are sending him back to OKC I think to do more extensive tests.
