we have 2 top 6 forwards hurt and no prospects ready to step into a scoring role in the NHL... at the very least Kotalik knows what it takes to produce at the NHL level...

also realize since being sent down in 18 games Kotalik has already reached the top 10 in scoring on the Heat, has a point per game pace of more than double any regular on the team and already leads the team in +/-... like him or not he is the only player on the farm with a chance of succeeding in a top 6 role

Its "later", not "latter". I think he was facepalming your spelling.

Edit: Oh god, /facepalm myself now. That wasn't you who wrote that.

Next to no chance he gets claimed, and he'll likely work his tail off to show that he can still contribute in the NHL.

Works for me.

But for real, this is probably Kotalik's last chance to show he can still contribute in the NHL. Let's hope he makes good use of it.

wow...lots of confussion srry fur spelng latter wronng.

I'm facepalming because I had almost forgot about Kotalik and his whole tainted legacy as a flame.

Could you imagine if he comes in a tears up the league over the next 10 games.

I wouldn't push anything past him at this point.

I'm assuming this means Moss is done for quite a while if not the season.

Another chance for Kotalik and probably his last chance. Let's see what he can do. He'll get a good opportunity and hopefully he can step up and help the flames into the playoffs.

But desperate times call for desperate measures. I hope he actually contributes consistently this time.

I am not saying that I think Kotalik will be any sort of a saviour here, byt actually I am kind of optimistic about his return. He has proven he can score goals in the past and alot of goal scoring is confidence. The fact that he was producing on the Heat and that he was generating offence may just be enough to get that scoring feeling back for him. Who knows with the injuries the Flames have right now this could actually end up working out. If not, his time with the Flames is going to be over.

I'm not thrilled with him being back either, but he earned this call up. He went to the Heat like he was assigned, didn't pout about it, put up points and was reportedly great in the locker room with the team.

A motivated Kotalik and a motivated Hagman is a pretty solid third line with Stajan as centre. At least that line has the ability to chip in on the score sheet and create some chances.

And it should be a decent line being that they make a combined 10.5 million a season.

Good combo if you ask me. They all seem to have a chip on their shoulder right now because all 3 have something to prove. Stajan and Hagman seem to have a comfort level to the point where they know where the other guy is on the ice all the time. Obviously the skill level isn't that high, but if they're putting pressure on the opposing team it really helps the rest of the lines. Add Kotalik with a good work ethic and his level of skill and that makes for a great 3rd line IMO. They don't have to lead this team, they just have to participate, and chip in a couple points. But yeah a 10.5 million dollar 3rd line does make me want to vomit.

Especially since our top line (with Morrison) only makes 9.425M

It wouldn't pain me to see that whole 3rd line gone by next season for a bag of pucks.

i find it hilarious that so many meat heads think 3.0+3.0+3.5=10.5

has anyone here completed basic math?

The key word here:

Stajan's actual salary is 4.5M this season which is where the 10.5M comes from. In any case, having a third line with a 9.5M cap hit is bad cap management which is made a whole lot worse given that all three players are under-performing.

make a season, not this season... thus they are talking cap hits

You're right. My bad.

Although, since Stajan makes 4.5M next year too, it could end up being 10.5 next year as well if of course Kotalik and Hagman are retained.
