I think it kicks ass. Anyone catch it today? They had Bertuzzi (in an uncharacteristically good mood) and Colin James (some Canadian musician).
I really love this show in general. Hrudey is a great host, and they have this great, informal, and laid-back feel to the whole thing.
Hilights today included Todd Bertuzzi answering "both" when asked who would he prefer, Christina Aguilera or Britney Spears...or when Hrudey went out into the streets of Vancouver and did a "Talking to Americans"-style thing, but hockey related.
Hrudey: So, have you heard reports that Marc Crawford has said he will lace up as a left winger for Vancouver again if they get into injury trouble?
Passerby: Really? I guess that's cool...
Hrudey: In an effort to cut down on ridiculous pad size, the NHL is thinking of mandating that goaltenders must wear only one pad during games. What are your thoughts on this?
Passerby: Well...I don't believe you.
There was also one tourist from LA who recognized him from his days as a King (old lady) and Hrudey's like "so, did you hate me?"
He also kept acting as if Vancouver was starting out the season to add to its repertoire of multiple Stanley Cup victories, and got all the fans depressed ("Wait...so you didn't win in 1994? I must have bad information...")
So yeah, in summary: After Hours rocks, and everyone should watch it. Discuss!
I actually missed After Hours tonight, cause I went out right after the game finished, but I pretty much watch it every week. It's a great show, although I think it'll be wierd without Scott Russell. I agree with BES, the atmosphere is great - laid back, pretty candid.
Great show, great way to end a solid seven hours of HNIC.
I don't mind non-hockey players on After Hours. They had one of the guys from Barenaked Ladies on last season, and he was absolutely hilarious! Colin James was okay, too...I hadn't even heard of him, but he was kind of funny.
