3) Let's see who starts tomorrow. (Most likely Backstrom) To be honest, I hope Backstrom starts both games. He has been playing unreal lately.
Didn't Latendresse come back? He re-injured himself?

Yes he did come back but now, he is complaining about his groin. Can't say I'm surprised.

in hindsight we should have started Auld, but given how flat footed we were in the first it likely would have been the same result.

how much of this is a result of poor conditioning (and too much sleeping / eating)

Too much poutine I would say.

Seriously, he has a bad conditioning as usual.

I guess the goal right now is just to make the playoffs in any position.

Watching Le Match, they think it will be 2 "free" points Sunday. I'm sure they can't even name 10 players on the team and I'm wondering how many Wild games did they watch this season.

If you think it will be an easy game, you don't know the Minnesota Wild...

Weak point I know..

My thoughts on the game:

Looked like Price didn't even try on the 5th goal.

DD, Subban and Gionta were monsters.

Did Dawes get on the ice??

Pouliet has been useless the past few games.

We'd be lost without Hammer.

Loosing faith in Gomez.

McGuire was sure praising Subban, excellent.

Cammy needs to pick it up a notch, I know he's injured but I'm sure most guys are playing hurt this time of year.

Weber, do not need next year. We already have Markov, Subban and Wiz for offense, need 3 more guys like Hammer, shut down guys who can play physical.

I don't think any game is ''free'' points when we have 9 regulars out.

I find it funny that media people dismiss our injuries so easily, but then when we face other teams that are in a similar situation, and win, they will downplay the victory.

We had a really good shot tonight to make the comeback. 3 straight goals was not bad. I've noticed in previous games that this year's Rangers seem to be able to manipulate us well down low. With even more defensive injuries recently it was a really tough night for us.

Also we looked kind of physically dominated in their zone as well at times. Could be from exhaustion from the game last night as well. But I liked the way we were coming back incrementally. If it had happened it would not have been a passionate one like the one in 08, but more of a football play style one. Get it into their zone, shoot on goalie, get a face off, get it back to the D.

From here on out in the rest of the season, I think the Habs have to play a very smart, calm game. We need more discipline as well.

There have been some real positives. I notice that this team has great puck movement at times.

Forecheck us hard into making mistakes? Check.
Pound us physically into making mistakes by finishing checks? Check
Build a lead off said mistakes? double check.

This is the Achilles heel of this team. It's why we lost to the Flyers in last year's playoffs and why we lost this game against the Rangers.

If they can beat Minni on Sunday that would buy them some more time for Plek, Halpern and Gill to come back. I'm confident JM will have them ready to play on Sunday. If the Habs can play .500 over the last 10 games they'll have 95 pts. which is a 7 point improvement over last year and likely a higher seed.

I'm hoping that we'll have at least 4 or 5 of our injured/ill back in two weeks. I'm guessing Plekanec, Halpern, Gill, and Sopel will be back by then (some much sooner than others).

Correct. Gill will be back for the Minni game. He travelled with the team, but has the flu. That will help, but I'm hoping Pleks at the very least will be back for the Buffalo game. He is so vital to the Habs offense including the PP and PK and it has shown.

BTW just wanted to say that Gionta is a warrior and has stepped up when needed this year. He is the example of "never say die". True captain he is. 26 goals. I'm hopeful he'll get to 30.

My guess is he does. I bet Martin knew coming in to this trip it was going to be tough to win both games. If Gill feels a bit better he will play, Martin knows Sunday's game is important.

No news on Sopel that I'm aware of, but he still has a healing broken hand. I'm guessing he'll be back in two weeks.

Just read on Twitter that Cammy was trying Easton's New Stealth RS stick for the first time at the NYR game. Guess it didn't help, but Cammy is definitely still injured. Shoulder never fully healed.

Couldn't watch but seems like one of those games when the puck didn't literally bounce our way and we played sloppy defense. That 1st period reminded me of the 3rd period against the Blues a bit. The D could communicate and mark their men properly it seemed.

Price wasn't really at fault at those goals but to say he was himself wouldn't be correct either. Auld played good though, so looking back maybe we should have started him. Interesting to see who we'll play in St. Paul. I'd go with Auld. Let Price rest atleast one whole 60 mins of game. So he can bounce back just like he did before we went on this 7-3-0 streak.

Also, lets not panic please. Rangers had rested. We have 9 regulars out and played the evening before.

Overall, we could have won this one, as I don't think the Rags played particularly well either. But we decided to play worse and had a bit of bad bounces. Happens.

Now lets beat Minnesota, and take it from there.

The last two games have been hard on Hamrlik.

He is slow and against Tampa, he couldn't play a 2 on 1 the right way. He is overused. I don't like Martin using him on the 1st wave instead of Subban.

Cammalleri is terrible this season. For 6 millions per year ? Yikes... And people were complaining all year on Kostitsyn when he earns half the money and plays better and bring more than a one dimentional shot... Cammy was good on one-timer, what happened ? I hope its only an injury.
