I'm not trying to be negative or anything but... I have absolutely no confidence in this team tonight. Again they have far less to play for than their opponent and - I hate to say it - but the Flyers goalies suck.
Seriously - let's call a spade a spade. They both SUCK. When was the last time a Flyer goalie won a game by outplaying the other goalie? I hope Bob starts because Boucher is in death-spiral suck mode.

I remember how I made a big deal about how much our goalies suck back when we were destroying the league and people just called me negative and a whiner.
Gotta get this win tonight, big two points to put us ahead of the Caps. 6 ahead of the Yinz before tomorrow. Make it a big showdown come Tuesday. Come on boys, BRING IT!
two points. that'll put us 20 ahead of 9th place carolina who have 10 games remaining. if they win all 10 of those games, they'll have 43 wins, which puts them on par with the flyers, but we won the season series. so, a win tonight = playoffs.

I thought the new tiebreaker rule had something to do with non-shootout wins. Like the Flyers have 43 wins (2 coming in a shootout), while Carolina has 29 non-shootout wins. If we were tied at the end of the year in points, the Flyers would hold the tiebreaker because they have less shootout victories and more regular wins.

If that situation were ever to play out, I would have to go kill some Flyers.
(Obviously it won't, but can you just imagine the outrage?!)

I think I just confused myself.
yes, you are correct, but the flyers still need to win tonight to assure that this is the scenario. carolina's maximum point output this year is 96 if they win their last 10 games. the flyers will be at 96 tonight if they get the win, securing a playoff spot.
Realistically, I am expecting a 4-1 loss. I so want to be wrong! I really want to believe that this team will shake off the funk and play up to their ability against a serious opponent.
They don't Suck. On any given night, however they are outplayed by the opponents netminder.... and THAT sucks
To say the goalies suck, too, is a cop-out of the front-to-back mess that is this roster right now. The Flyers goalies shouldn't have to be stealing games if the team used their legs in the defensive zone, and their heads when they got the puck. Plus, the number of golden scoring chances they are not converting is biting them in the nether regions of late.
Not to pick on you Bernie, but can you tell me the last time a Flyer Goalie stole a game?
None come to mind this year, though Boucher and Bob have withstood several late-game onslaughts that the Flyers have made a habit of serving up. My point, though, was that, while the goalies have not been superhuman, the team has been inadequate. And whom should we hold more accountable?
- The high-priced skaters who are supposed to roll over the other 29 teams?
- The 2 bargain-bin goaltenders, one past-his-prime veteran and one rookie?
I was hoping against hope for a deal for Vokoun before the deadline, and I am eternally frustrated by Holmgren's undervaluing of the G position. However, when I read "the goalies suck", it strikes me as an incomplete summation of what's currently wrong with this team. Everybody is underperforming. Everybody.

The rest of the team, aside from the goalies, is to blame for the recent underperformance, but our goalie tandem does suck donkey balls. That one's on Holmgren though.

But you have to realize that is the risk Homer took when he decided not to go out and get a #1. He expects the team in front of Bob/Boosh to play like they should be and take the pressure off our goalies. And lately, the team in front has been playing like ****, therefore our goalies look terrible as well.
