BNZ Blog Thread

Mod edit:
Quote:
This thread will be a clearinghouse for discussion on BNZ blogs and announcements of new material (although links may also appear in other appropriate threads, such as GDTs). I encourage people to check out this quality Blues blog.
I wiped out the original text of this post to add the key links for the site... and also because this was a post for the trade deadline and that's long gone. So hurray for more relevant info!

Please check out our Photos page. Scott Neer of TSN Photography posts many of his quality pictures from the Bluse and Rivermen on our site. Check them out!

For all the info you need about the Blues GAMES: Previews, Recaps, Throwdown Lowdown, Fight Cards and In Game Blogs, checkout our Game Information Category.

As the trade deadline page turns in to the off season page and the prospects page is created, I'll share those links too.

I know JR addressed some ownership questions in his chat on STLToday today. I had already planned a blog from my POV (as a STH) regarding the ownership issue and the lack of communication recently.

Mr Checketts, An Update Please.

Happy Gameday everyone. Here are the Game links for 3-3-11.

Gameday Preview

Looks like Conklin vs. Neuvirth.

Links for 3-10-11

Hi everyone. Hope to see you all at the game tonight. Halak v Price! Hopefully 3 in a row.

Here are the BNZ Links. Thanks for reading.

Komen Race Update > BNZ will have a "sub-team". We're signing up with the Blues like we have been, but will be creating our own little group. Please feel free to join up. We're doing our own T-Shirts as well to help raise a little extra money to donate.

Many don't likely know, but my mother in-law is a 2x survivor fighting for the 3rd time. My wife, Kelly Quirin who also writes on BNZ, is going through preventative measures since the BRCA gene runs in their family. Any support to stomp out cancer is good support. Every bit helps, even if it's a little bit for a T-Shirt.

Game Recap: Blues 4 Blue Jackets 3 in OT > Stewie and the Young D get it done.

Gameday Preview: Somber Habs Visit > We also get Price v Halak and see Great Dane Lars Eller.

Throwdown Lowdown > Do the Habs even fight? Not much.

Blogs for 3-13-11

Tough loss last night, but that's how it goes when you ice a very young and inexperienced team against the Evil Empire.

> Our weekly round up of all things Peoria Rivermen. Links to Recaps, Clear Day set Roster for Calder Cup Playoffs, Unveiling another 3rd jersey, PJStar Chat w/ Nick Drazenovic Link, Nesbitt's last second(literally) goal video.

Schwartz Q&A

For all those interested, I completed BNZ's third Prospect Q&A. After 5 months of work and help from administrators at Colorado College I was able to have a Q&A with Jaden Schwartz.

Enjoy.

Links for 3-16-11

Afternoon all. Just dropping today's links off. No Gameday yet for tonight's tilt in Anaheim. Will try to get to one if I can.

Komen "Sub-Team" Announced > My wife and I finalized our plans for our Kome Race for the Cure St. Louis Blues "sub-team". Sign up with the Blues and then sign up with us. For $15 you get a BNZ/Komen Team T-Shirt. At least $4 of every shirt will go back to Komen. All other funds go to the cost of the shirts. Effectively all profits go back to Kokmen. The more people who sign on and buy shirts the more money we donate to breast cancer research and a cure.

Chris Stewart is the Blues Needed Offensive Workhorse > Just like the title says. Stewart is going to be a special player and will allow the Blues to pursue other needs as he should become the go to goal scorer the team has been missing.

Throwdown Lowdown > Tyler provides you pugilist lovers with the good for tonight's game. Parros v Reaves anyone?

I'm starting to wonder whether Stewart is a possibility as the next captain. He does seem like a special player, and not all because of the on-ice accomplishments. Eh, maybe he gets an "A" instead.

Leadership potential sure seems to be there. Having the two biggest and most physical forwards in leadership roles sounds like a good thing.

Wouldn't surprise me to see him get an "A". I still think the "C" ends up with 5 or 42.

or 27. I wouldn't be surprised if Petro got it. I like a captain who is a little bit more calm - Jackman, Stewart and Backes all play with a bit more of an edge than Pietrangelo, and are more likely to get into fights and be out for five minutes. That's what I like to see for someone wearing an A, not a C

Backes' Olympic and All-Star credentials add to his suitability as a Captain.

I'd like to see:
Backes (C)
Stewart and Pietro (A)

Didn't they do something with road/home alternate captains?

If so:
Jackman and someone else (A) too.

C- Backes
A- Jackman
A- McDonald
A- Steen
A- Petro

In my opinion. But I'd be satisfied with pretty much anyone getting a letter.

I don't get this reasoning. How does the fact that he went to the All Star game and to the Olympics help his leadership?

I would think its pretty obvious. Young players will respect a guy that has played in elite international play and the all-star game. Its simply a symbol of success as a hockey player. Playing an important role on a Cup team would be better, but on the Blues....Backes is one of the more successful guys (which just shows what a young team it is).

Its not the only essential ingredient, but that experience enhances David Backes' credentials.

Been away a few days, so here is a couple days worth of blogs.

My Initial Thoughts on Oshie's absence.

Bluenotes from 3-30-11 > Highlight here is my take on some of the guys in Peoria from my trip last weekend. Specifcally Barriball, Cundari, Nesbitt and Allen.

Bluenotes 3-31-11 > Oshie is back and Stewie is on Twitter.

Blues Release the Cracknell on Peoria.
