The Sacramento Kings have taken yet another step toward a potential move to Southern California.

With the Kings exploring relocation to Anaheim, a Sacramento attorney representing the team's owners filed for at least four federal trademark registrations this month.

Among the names filed for according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office's website were: Anaheim Royals, Anaheim Royals of Southern California, Orange County Royals and Los Angeles Royals.

I don't like name Royals but it's better than Kings. And if those are the ones to choose from, Orange County Royals gets my vote.
Ermm...Anaheim Royals of Southern California?

Agree with that they should be called Orange County Royals

I read somewhere that a team that's in the Ponda needs to have Anaheim in the name as part of the agreement with the city; so Anaheim Royals would be an option, but not some of the others. Can't remember were I saw it, but it was in an article about the Kings moving.

Sounds a little too much like the Kings former affiliate.

According to the Register, they are planning on renovating the basketball locker rooms. How about they renovate the Ducks locker room too because it looks so cramped in there compared to other arenas. Also they are looking to build a practice facility for the Royals in Anaheim. It would be better off if they built both the Ducks and Royals practice facility at the Great Park in Irvine.

It would be nice to see another addition to The Rinks! The more they have of those, the better they can market the team and the game.

I don't see how having an NBA team in Anaheim is good for the Ducks and I question Samueli's interest in it. Isn't it just more competition? The Ducks' attendance isn't great as it is, another big ticket in town isn't going to help.

He's also the owner of the Pond. The Ducks may lose money, but the Pond should get lots more money.

(Well I don't think he actually owns the Pond, he just owns the company that runs it or some technicality like that).

The more events at the Ponda, the more money to the management company owned by Samueli from parking and concessions. I am certain that some accountant, somewhere, has figured out the profit per attendee at sporting events for the management company. Plus, if the suites and 300 level are sold on a combined 'all events' or Ducks/Royals basis, more ticket revenue for the Ducks.

More revenue doesn't mean squat if there are still empty seats. I'm sure the move benefits Samueli himself, but the Ducks just had an event where they gave away 100 tickets to tonight's game. I'm not really concerned with the financial side. I want butts in the seats.

The NBA is interested, but the Ducks have to play roller hockey.

At least the Pond is already built with the nice sightlines it has instead of being a shallow bowl abortion like Staples is.

Well when I got the email from the Ducks asking if I wanted to buy my same pair to the Kings/Royals should they move I did my part and answered yes and fibbed a little on the bit asking about how close I lived to Ponda

I would like to see the Magoofs no longer own an NBA team to be honest. They did nothing to build an arena in Sacramento. I don't respect them in this move and hope they lose their franchise.

Sad thing is in a day where LeBron is the most despicable human being on the planet and great guys like Melo and CP3 become hard to like the team probably only has a chance of getting the stars it needs to compete in So Cal.

But Sac deserves their team so long as cities like Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, Denver have franchises. If the team hits .500 the building will be full. Buy the Cavs and move them to So Cal Maloofs.
