Beat me to it.

Eklund's such a joke.

Eklund posted once or twice when he was given "official media status" making his blog a postable resource.

As for this, well, I guess some of it could be true, but a whole lot of nothing happened for all he said.

First there was no way Niedermayer was not going to be signed in New Jersey, then it turns out he definately is going to test the market.

How Pittsburgh can even be mentioned in the sweepstakes is beyond me. I wish nothing bad against Pittsburg - providing they get their new arena and become a stable franchise - but they are a team that is going to have to hover around the lower end of the cap until they start proving they can turn some sort of profit or at least break even. Niedermayer at 5 million is most likely out of their price range as it would still be somewhere between 20-25% of their total payroll. Not against the NHL rules, but definately a challenge to work around.

I strongly suggest reading Kevin Greenstein's draft preview. It is the best on the net, in my opinion, and he has also has a great mock draft. Follow this link to the newly designed Inside Hockey :

Gagne AND Seidenberg for Ryan? Maybe if Clarke gets in to a crate of LSD.

Actually CP and Ken Sawyer have both said they look to have a payroll around $31-32 million. Del Biaggio, soon to be majority owner, has also said he would like to raise the payroll. With season tickets rolling off the shelves, Sawyer recently stated that the $31-32 might be the low-end of their anticipated payroll.

eklund is so funny

"Well here we are...get some good sleep, tomorrow will be a day and a half I am told. Thanks to all who joined the Insider list today..You folks are really amazing...I will work as hard as any person can this coming week to dig up the dirt and keep the locomotive rolling. We will be doing many chats throughout the week, and I will be sending out many transcript for those of you who actually do work.

How great is this going to be? This is going to be like a month long trade deadline. I got a box full of espresso beans ready to go! I may not be right about every rumor (I bet only 10% of discussed trades ever occur), but I do promise this..If it is being talked about I will be telling you. There are two reasons I give free memberships to folks who work for NHL teams. #1 Because they went through the most hell in the last year. and #2 because I get to have the most ears out there listening at the water coolers and in the lounges. I have some 75 people who work for NHL teams on my email list. I'll be counting on you all!

...

Just like Christmas again...What are you asking for? A Neidermayer? A Forsberg to go with your Naslund? should be fun see you in the main chat room at Noon to celebrate!"

Eklunds the victim of the monster he created.

agents, players and GM's are using him to gain leverage, so it's possible he intentionally perpetuates rumors for his 'buddies'.

and for a guy thats supposed to be a a journalist his writing skills are sub-par.

You are giving him way too much credit with that statement. His writing skills are...Well, I can't even come up with a word for it right now.

Sometimes you have to wonder about the logic behind some of these rumours.

If Burke was going to trade the pick to Clarke he would have done it before the draft because the pick/Ryan is not going to go up in value in the days after the draft when the hype has died off and Clarke can take his time and think about things. Burke knows this too.

If the Ducks scouts preferred Johnson and Burke couldn't get the deal out of Clarke before the draft then in all probability he'd have taken the best player available (ie Johnson) rather than get stuck with Ryan. It makes no sense to take 2nd best and hope for a deal later. It seems to me the Ducks had Ryan pegged as BPA and took him.

He has no contact with any of the above.

Let's call him what he is...he's a human aggregator. He goes to all the major newspapers' websites, takes all the rumors from Garrioch, Brooks, etc., combines them, embellishes a little bit, pulls some stuff out of his...ear...and posts it as a "rumor," claiming that it came from someone in a front office somewhere.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Read the original post and see what Eklund wrote... he's an idiot.
Ryan is a top 7 guy by all accounts, and a great fit for the Wild at 4, but the Canaucks makes absolutely no sense.

I think it was an attempt at being funny, calm down.

No offense but how do you know he doesn't? I'm not saying he has contacts but we don't know that he doesn't.
