Nate Dogg dead at 41

Since it seems so many of us on this board are hip-hop fans it seems fitting not to bury this in the Music thread...

Nathaniel D. Hale who was better known to the masses under the alias Nate Dogg passed away on Tuesday.

Cause of death is unknown at this time but he suffered strokes in 2007 and 2008, the latter leaving him unable to speak.

As a fan I can say this is the first death in hip-hop to truly effect me emotionally since Tupac, Nate Dogg is one of the reasons I fell in love with hip-hop.

R.I.P Nate, you were loved and changed the game.

This is my favorite song of all time and the song that got me into hip-hop

That's terrible news, Nate was always one of my favorites.

Another Key member of the Hip-Hop community gone.

R.I.P Nathaniel

Terrible news. His hooks will definitely be missed, but he made his mark. The work he did with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Warren G and Tha Dogg Pound will always be remembered as some of the best west coast rap ever made.

I'm not going to lie, I shed some tears. It hurts when someone you;ve followed closely for almost 2 decades passes on.

as its too soon for any tribute songs from Dre, DPG, Warren G or Snoop I think some tribute songs Nate was involved in would be fitting

How Long Will They Mourn Me by Tupac/Thug Life & Nate Dogg
I believe this song was for Tupac's half brother Mopreme

Why by Nate Dogg
This was his tribute to Tupac, both have passed far too young

I also want to say that without Nate Dogg hip-hop wouldn't be the same. Regulate was the biggest reason it became acceptable to have R&B/Rap hybrid songs and artists. Without Regulate being such a success we might never have been blessed with classics like "You're All I Need" by Method Man and Mary J. Blige. Or successful artists like Nelly may have never gotten a second look from the major labels. And more currently you can bet someone like Drake wouldn't be what he is without Nate Dogg paving the way. Nate Dogg is the greatest hookster in hip-hop history and single handedly changed the game.
