As for the confirmed posters, do you guys want to do a full 7 rounds again this year? 3? 5?
Minimum 5.

I'd plan to do 7, and stop it at 5 if it has gotten too late by the time we're there.

Yeah, this is probably what we'll do. Go 5 rounds, and if all goes well we'll add the extra 2 rounds.

Once we figure out who the 30 confirmed posters are, we'll do the same as last year to decide teams - everyone's name into a hat.

5 or 7 is fine with me.

Schooner can't participate this year, which means he can't steal my selection from right under me again.

I had wanted Forbort last year but he selected him right before I was able to. But I'm extremely happy with my consolation prize, Vlad Tarasenko.

I'm hoping for another full draft personally.

And I won't post the one from last year out of shame

go for 5 round and if the pace is good during the draft go to 7th round. imo those last couples of rounds are the most exciting. each GM try to find those late round gem

Yeah I think this is what we'll do. We'll go 5 rounds guaranteed but since we did 7 rounds last year I can definitely see us adding the two extra rounds as long as 1-5 stay active.

I agree with 5 for sure and possibly go to 7 even the picks are happening with an acceptable time frame

What's your take on Holl? I was really intrigued by the fact that the Hawks picked him in the 2nd round and haven't been able to find out a whole lot about him.

I can also be counted on to pound out 7 rounds... for multiple teams again if I "have to".

edit: My 2010 Picks

6. Brett Connolly
62. Austin Madaisky
66. Justin Faulk
72. Jonathan Johansson
96. Sebastian Wannstrom
119. Louis-Marc Aubry
134. (for St.Louis) Sondre Olden
156. Bohumil Jank
186. Jani Hakanpaa

I think I may also have picked Andrej Stastny for Columbus @192, and maybe one other pick for another team. Not bad top to bottom, despite lack of a 2nd round pick.

Just realized that Pernell Karl was great in 2010 for the Habs. Skinner, Coyle, Smith (though his stats are mind boggling, I still believe he'll be a NHL plugger one day), Dvu (great bet).....

I wasn't that great.... I'm much better when I try to address my team's problems than to figure out an opponent's problems to be fixed....Though I still like Bjugstad.

29 confirmed posters. I'll be looking for the 30th member shortly, and I have a few active posters in mind.

Does everyone agree with the same format as last year regarding names in a hat to determine teams?

If so, I can do that as soon as we have all 30 posters confirmed.

Also, we'll likely need a few guys to be the "reserve team" in case someone drops out or continually misses their picks.

i think it could be more fun to keep the same team every year, that way we can build on who we took last season.

but i guess that is irrelevant because in reality we should just look AT the teams true prospect depth. so i dont mind picking new teams randomly.

5-7 rounds for sure!

Hat is perfect. No need to rush to say teams and all, the only way it could be fair for everybody....

Personnally, I don't agree with keeping the same team. As far as I'm concerned, I don't pick necessarily the BPA, but I also check the team I have so that I can address some needs in the process. Since a team might have the same deficiencies for a couple of years, it's great to change and might have to address a whole new situation.

Sounds good to me guys.

We have 1 spot left. If you're an active poster with at least 1,000 posts and you've been on HF Boards for at least 1 year (Habs board regular) and you're interested in being in the mock draft, shoot me a PM.

The first one to meet this criteria who sends me a PM, will get the final confirmed spot.

Only taking serious posters though, so if you're likely not going to have the time or if you don't really follow the draft, please don't bother.

Thank you.

And if you're late in messaging me but still meet this criteria, you'll have an automatic spot on our reserve team.

I'd be harsher and say that if you happen to sign in, and don't show yourself at all, you'll be out for the upcoming 3 mock drafts....but that's just me....Also we've seen posters saying that after 3 rounds, they don't know the guys enough, that to me is enough for my 3-year ban.....You know that it's headed towards a minimum of 5 rounds. You need to be willing to do the whole exercice. Yet, there are reasons why you can't attend and that's all good, that's why there's a reserve list. But to me those 2 reasons are not good enough and isn't too fair for the people who participate in this. 5 to 7 rounds is great...but it needs to roll.
