The price would definitely be high. But with the age of our team and the depth of our prospect pool, it wouldn't be a trade that would hurt too much. Even to say we'd trade our first 4 picks for someone Gordie feels like would be a sure thing wouldn't hurt the franchise as much as some would think.
I'd do our first, both seconds, a later round pick AND a prospect like V-tank or Kundratek for Coutrier, tbh.

Was I to understand that Derek Stepan had a brother in an upcoming draft?

Cousin, actually, Zach Stepan. He's pretty good, too.

We need to draft him and have our own Sedin twins.

They're cousins and three years apart.

Unless there's something about Minnesota I don't know about.

Has Couturier dropping to 8th. While I sincerely doubt he drops that far, if he does we need to be all over that.

Can we please tank next year.

I would like to "Nail" down that number one overall pick. On the trade rumors section of HF they talk of this kid of the ilk of duchene, stamkos, even Ovechkin.

I want that kid!

I think tanking is despicable and teams who obviously do it should not be rewarded with 1st overalls, but jesus christ this kid is going to be something else and if we weren't finally becoming a good team I would just look the other way as we "boosted" our chances of getting him.

one of the best names ever...kind of ironic though that the guy named 'nail' is 5'7 170...

so does the fact that he is already playing in north america mean would can't use the silly notion that he might not leave russia to get other teams to pass on him so he drops to us lol

Kinkaid looks like an NHL goaltender out there, but Union is convinced to pull off the choke job. First Colgate and now this.

After everything we've done and put in place last couple years I'd be bitterly disappointed if Rangers draft 1st overall next year barring any major injuries.

Off course they could trade for #1 pick but that's a story for another day.

Any reason (besides obviously that would mean the Rangers are SC champs!)?

As long as we draft the other Stepan...

I know this kid isn't 2011 draft eligible, but did you guys hear about this Ekblad kid in Canada? He just turned 15 last month and is already 6'3 200lbs. He was granted exceptional status to play in the OHL one year early.

Only other players to get that were Spezza and Tavares, I believe (For the OHL). He play's defense and is 2014 draft eligible.

What can anyone tell me here about Boone Jenner? He was a projected first round pick who seems to be sliding a little. Plays with Thomas so Adam Graves the General minority owner will have some good insight on him. Seems pretty solid.

If he is going to be a 2nd rounder and the Rangers unfortunately don't make the dance which would be terrible, on draft day;

1st rounder; Mika Zibanejad or Joel Armia
2nd rounder: trade both 2nd rounders for Jenner OR if they can get Jenner and grab one of Nieto, Prince, or the sliding Rask (which Gordie will not go near with character issues).

At the beginning of the season my target was Brandon Saad.

With feeling the Rangers may finish in the top half of the league and have no shot at Saad, my target became Matthew Nieto for most of the season.

Now, with the Rangers likely finishing in the bottom half of the league, my attention is now shifted back to Saad.

Saad has a complete package. Like Kreider. Size, speed, skill, desire, underrated smarts. He could probably step right into the NHL with his physical tools.

For whatever reason, probably late risers, Saad has dropped in rankings/projections/mocks to a position the Rangers could be in to take him. Be it by trading up a couple slots or maybe he drops into our laps.

Hopefully we get Saad.

We need that combination of size, speed, and skill.

Eventually adding Kreider, Saad, Grachev, and Werek to the lineup would make us hard to play against with that kind of size up front. Especially with Anisimov eventually filling out his frame, and Boyle and Dubinsky already being big bodies.

Size isn't everything, but they're all equally as skilled as they are big.

Add McIlrath on the backend.

No more being pushed around.

Based on what? You do this with Kreider, you did this with Niederreiter, and now, you're doing this with Saad. His "smarts" aren't underrated, because smarts haven't been displayed to be judged.

Or for the reason that he's neither that smart or that skilled, and not a very mature player on the ice.

Hopefully, we don't, IMO. I'd say that none of the players you mentioned besides Anisimov and Dubinsky are as skilled as they are big. Werek, who I love, is hardly a skill player at all.

Because being pushed around is the problem for this team?

no thanks on saad. hes got size but he has marginal hockey smarts. not crazy about his play when ive watched him.

lets not forget roman horak amongst those players listed. he may not be big- hes not small either, but hes skilled. hes perhaps the best skater of all those guys not named kreider and he can play in all situations.

we seem to be stocked with forwards who all have upside. we do lack top end 1st line skill however and we need a dynamic pivot for sure.

i hate to sound like a broken record but centerman is where i would look in this draft.

strome
koko
zbad
catenacci
jacobs

all interest me.
