Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden: Game #73 @ Pittsburgh Penguins

Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden

The RulesWhat is the poll for?

You are voting for the player of the game - the one who put forth the most effort, who put the team on his shoulders, who contributed the most.

Do not vote for the player who had the best statistical game just because he had the best statistical game.

This does not mean you should not vote for the player of who had the best statistical game, but do not vote for him just because of that fact.

Who can I vote for?

You may vote for any player who dressed for the game and played at least one shift. If the player you want to vote for is not included in the poll, select "Other" and indicate in your post who you wish to vote for. In the case that I egregiously miss the player who everyone wants to vote for in the poll, I will count the votes in the thread.

What is this "The Good, The Bad, The Redden" nonsense?

It is my twist on the title of the famous spaghetti western movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Since multiple players may have outstanding games and you can only vote for one player in the poll, this affords you the opportunity to recognize multiple players, or a facet of the team, for their commendable play ("The Good"). This also affords you the opportunity to rip players, or a facet of the team, for their particularly substandard play ("The Bad"). Finally, just as "The Player of the Game" affords you the opportunity to recognize the best, this affords you the opportunity to commend the crème de la crème of the worst, who delivered an atrocious performance, or whose singular (or multiple) bad plays directly led to the the detriment of the team ("The Redden").

Alexander Frolov Memorial Trophy

The Alexander Frolov Memorial Trophy is awarded to the player who most exemplifies the qualities that Alex brought to the ice game in and game out. Most notable was his talent for wraparounds. Thusly, this award is given to the player who has the most wraparound attempts throughout the game.

The award tonight goes to Brian Boyle, with 1 wraparound attempt against Pittsburgh.

POTG: Callahan and Lundqvist were equal

Good: Dubinsky, McDonagh. Eminger was amazing tonight, good for him.

Bad: Girardi

Redden: Matt Cooke is a *******, so is Jordan Staal

And the Rangers had no business winning this game. Solid 1st period and a great final 10 minutes. Everything else was piss poor.

I know he won't get the votes because so many guys played well, but props to Steve Eminger for his best game as a Ranger. 24:19 TOI and he was a wrecking ball.

This was really special for me. 3-0 in Pittsburgh, and all 3 were thrilling victories. For most Rangers fans it's the Isles, Devils, or Flyers, but for me, the Pens are public enemy number 1. I was very pleased to shove that game so far up Matt Cooke's ass it came out his eye sockets. After Cally's goal I went on a profanity-laced tirade directed at the Pens the likes of which I had never before conjured. It felt good, but not quite as good as that win.

The Good: Everyone and their Aunt Sally, specifically the dirty birds finally getting what they deserve in the form of an eight and a half minute Rangers powerplay, and the Rangers PK with 4 phenomenal kills.

The Bad: Girardi is a lost puppy without Staal

The Redden: Matt Cooke, but that's ok because my bro McDonagh stuck with it and picked up a key assist.

My 3 stars

The Penalty Kill by Committee (so I voted other)

Ryan Callahan

Henrik Lundqvist

POTG: Callahan and his expression when he scored!

The good: Henrik is back, nothing iffy from the injury
The bad: The penguins fans and them booing the refs for the "bad" calls

POTG: Cally, taking a nasty high stick and scoring the game winner.

Good: Sauer clearing the crease AGAIN, McD not missing a ship.

Bad: Lundqvist played excellently, but his movements still looked off tonight.

Redden: The powerplay won us the game, but it was still ugly to watch.

Wow, didnt relize he got so much time today. It is evident (as it was then) that Emy should be in the lineup over MDZ. We might be in a bit better position this year if torts had made the change sooner.

POTG: Cally
Good: Henrik is on top of his game and the way the D is clearing the crease during and after the whistle.
Bad: The first half of that 5 min. PP was beyond pathetic. Wolski n McCabe were invisible, as they usually are.
Redden: 10 games for Cooke. That was way worse than what Gillies did and both he and Gillies have the same reputation.

The Good: Hank. Ryan Callahan with 46 points in 53 games (if my math is correct) jeez. what a third liner he is
the bad: girardi, he sure looks clueless without marc staal.
the redden: matt cooke. dan bylsma whining for that goalie interference call

Big props to Eminger, he was a beast today. Really threw the body around. Not his fault on the Staal goal, Girardi drifted too far over.
