I am guessing 2-3 games. Every time the league talks about addressing hits to the head, something like this happens and the result is a slap on the wrist. So I expect nothing different here. Not to mention that the league loves the penguins, so maybe he only gets 1 game.

Lemieux was a huge baby even when he played. I fully expect him to keep silent on this incident. He was FAR from clean when he played. Just take a look at this video:

He almost takes off Krygier's head with a high-stick, then flips out when the dude retaliates and punches him in the back of the head a couple times. Looks VERY similar to the Bertuzzi incident if you ask me. Thank God it had a different outcome though.

The baby only cares when things go against HIS team. HIS franchise player is the one out with the concussion, and that's the only reason he opened his pathetic mouth. He could have cared less that Savard had his career ended (speculation) by a player whose paychecks HE signs, and whom HE gave a new contract to AFTER the Savard hit.

Thats a good one, but how about this.

Cooke is a discrace to the league, he is by far the dirtiest player around. He better get atleast 10 games.

Just watched the game. Heartless hit.

8 Game from the broken NHL.

Should get 10-15 if the league wasn't broken.

Priceless.

Cooke will get his 1 day.

As a Sharks fan I'm a little ignorant of Cooke since he left Vancouver. I remember that he took out Savard with a shot to the head. I hope Cooke is taken out for the remainder of the season (regular and post). At the end of the day Mario needs to step in and release Cooke from the team. He's only going to escalate his hits to the next level and that could result in a player being paralyzed or killed.

I don't wish any harm on any player.

But watching those videos above of Cookie getting KO'ed, in all honesty, makes me feel good.

Also, I think a deliberate, late elbow--intentionally thrown at head--is worth 10 games on its own. We really need to get this **** out of our game. For a fourth-time offender? Cookie needs to be done for the year, playoffs included.

That organization as a whole is pathetic in terms of player integrity and respect for other players' well being.

Cooke, Orpik, Asham, Malkin, Crosby... they're all a bunch of ****ing dirtbags, and Mario is the biggest ******* of them all who used to spear players who hit him.

It's pretty simple. If the NHL wants to get rid of cheap shots and hits to the head, you gotta take a no tolerance policy similar to that of steroids in baseball. You throw one of these but your a first time offender? You get suspended but not anything to harsh. You do it again? You get the book thrown at you in a big way. Obviously it depends on what the hit was and changes on a case to case basis but you see what I'm getting at.

If I'm Mario Lemieux, I call Cooke into my office and say this:

"You have two minutes to explain to me why you made me look like a punk to the entire hockey community.

Go."

can you imagine how us ranger fans would feel had Pitt won that game ?

wow thats an ugly ugly situation right there

I fully expect Mario to issue something insufficient from his bully pulpit and for CC to give matt cooke 3 games

glad McDonaugh wasn't hurt

to win that game in pitt without staal is huge, thanks cookie

I'm in the minority here...I think the NHL/Penguins will come down hard on Cooke. When you have a nationally broadcast game and the talking heads are discussing how dirty Cooke is and alluding to Lemieux being hypoctricial, I think even Campbell and Bettman recognize you have to do something big.

Nice watching him get the snot beat out of him. So what? He comes back later and tries to maim somebody again anyway.
Old style retribution is not the answer. I have no idea how that could not be more clear.
Evander Kane and Dustin Brown knocking him out is fun, but I'd rather get the rat off the ice.

Maxim Talbot, Tyler Kennedy.

God, this Pittsburgh team is filled with scum bags. And I thought Lindros' Flyers were bad. They were just big and physical. These guys - just dirtbags.

You don't need the instigator gone to make a point. I think the Isles made clear to Pittsburgh what they think of the Pens dirty style of play and Tangradi out of the line up is a good price to pay for the Penguins. Next season, should it turn into a 3+ goal differential, I would hope the Rangers start hitting high, from behind and with great recklessness. After all this is the Pittsburgh team where Matt Cooke wears an A.

If the Pens have to face a ****storm every time a game is out of contention, Lemieux, Shero and Blysma will clean up their act. After the mandatory whining of course.

This has to be about more than Cooke. Sure, suspend him for 10 or something. But suspend Bylsma for 3 games for not coaching his players properly, and fine Super Mario $1,000,000 for continuing to employ Cooke. And tell them next time it will: 1 season for Cooke, 10 games for Bylsma, and $2,000,000 for Super Mario.

THAT is sending a message.

And make Cook, Bylsma and Mario attend the hearing in person, and watch the video posted above of all Cooke's cheapshots.

I am still frustrated by the fact that Lundqvist keeps getting run and the Rangers/refs can't stop it.
Overall, the Rangers need to get some deterrence happening. They're getting victimized physically way too much.

You would be singing a different tune if that elbow concussed or severely injured one of our best prospects and promising defenseman.
