Hammond confirms jersey change for next season?

The current home jersey, the black-and-purple jersey with the crown logo, would become the third jersey.

i kind of wish that they vintage jerseys would become the alternate if the shield jerseys are becoming the home and away jerseys. though i wouldn't mind the vintage ones becoming the normal jersey, either...

thoughts?

post also includes a poll regarding the vintage jerseys.

To me this would be a vintage Kings decision.

The fans are loving the vintage jerseys and the org comes back with Black and White.

Classic.

If I cared I would be flooding that poll with "love the vintage jersey's" as often as possible.

Black and White

classic

So finally it looks like the Sacramento Kings will be leaving and changing their colors/names, leaving us as the only team rocking the purple/silver combo, and we change it to black/white/silver?

The black and white chevron jerseys suck so badly. I do not get the appeal at all.

Opinions as to why they would pick those jerseys as their go to wear?

My bet is that they are just cheaper to make and that they are buying into that old "the Raiders colors have a psychological effect on winning and are the best selling colors too" b.s.

So much for creating your own identity thing that DL was talking about.

I like the current black jerseys, but I'm not sure about the white version. I'll hold my judgement till I see it.

Anyone good with photoshop?

hammond was saying that the current home jerseys would become the third..not the vintage ones. i think the vintage ones aren't sticking around under this current plan.

Oh, whooops. I don't care for the home jerseys. I would like to see them go bye bye.

Robitaille loves the black and white because he wore those colors in junior hockey.

Luc, they suck. This is such an easy decision. Just look at the poll.

I will NEVER buy a black and white jersey.

It was a few years back but I remember reading that sports marketing people had done research and that black jerseys were always among the best selling. Something to that effect.

It would explain why so many teams seem to incorporate such a dark jersey when it has little to nothing to do with their actual colors.

Though honestly I like the Kings third jersey.

This goes along the lines of what I was gonna say. But do people on this board look around on games...the "thirds" are the reaaaaaally popular.

Can't stand the black and white/silver. Forum blue and gold or bust.

I'm o.k. with the decision, though the purple and gold is really starting to grown on me again. I like the uniqueness of them compared to others around the league, they're simple, and they best represent our title being that it is a royal color. I am glad they are keeping them as the third jersey, but would rather them just make the purple and gold our main uniforms again. In the end though, I am o.k. with the choices, they are a step in the right direction, a retro one.

The Hull Olympique, I have a more than passing knowledge.

Its the whole silver and black and white thing that is total bs to me. The reason that the purple and gold worked so well is that they were ugly and different. They identified the team from all others and that was cool.

They evolved over the years to where the jersey's that are now called our 3rd or vintage versions look really good. I wonder what Luc will say when someone talks with him about it? I wonder how looped into the decision that Luc is? Mostly I wonder if it is written in stone because before the money is spent anything is possible.

Not a big deal I suppose in the end but if we were to win a cup wearing our old colors I honestly and no kidding would probably either die on the spot or simply walk away from hockey for the rest of my life satisfied.

the problem with the vintage jerseys becoming our regular ones is the team would be wearing bright yellow on the road........do you think this might be tied into the new football team that AEG is bound to get eventually and these might coincide with the new team colors ?

Ooooh, now that is an interesting and salient point. I wonder?

To me it seems too far out in the ether of a thing to have any real impact but what the heck do I know about it? Not much.

They could do a pseudo to the yellow (its sort of a golden yellow or a mustard really or the old ones were) where they had white yellow and purple as opposed to the white purple black ones now. I don't know.

The all blacks look pretty good too but not so much so that it matters.

We'll have the plainest, most amateur looking jerseys in the entire NHL next season.

Is there something we can do about this I wonder? Management needs to be made aware that these jersey's are a downgrade.

Sure they've sold a lot, but new jerseys alway do, once the "newness" wears off, everyone will realize how bland these things really are.
