I'd be harsher and say that if you happen to sign in, and don't show yourself at all, you'll be out for the upcoming 3 mock drafts....but that's just me....Also we've seen posters saying that after 3 rounds, they don't know the guys enough, that to me is enough for my 3-year ban.....You know that it's headed towards a minimum of 5 rounds. You need to be willing to do the whole exercice. Yet, there are reasons why you can't attend and that's all good, that's why there's a reserve list. But to me those 2 reasons are not good enough and isn't too fair for the people who participate in this. 5 to 7 rounds is great...but it needs to roll.
Yeah we definitely need to have 30 dedicated guys if we want to go a full 7 rounds again. Those who don't make their picks and just ignore the fact that they're a member of the mock draft will most certainly not be invited back again.
While we do this to have fun, we also need to be serious about it because we're all draft/prospect fanatics and we don't want the fun being ruined by a few bad apples.
I know the invites may look unfair to certain people and make it seem like it's an exclusive club or something, but there's a reason why we (myself, you and nhldraftvideo last year through PM's) decided to go this way. We got tired of posters with 200 or so posts joining only to be never heard from again and it obviously slows down the draft process.
Maybe it's just me, but I thought last years draft went pretty damn well, and I think the main reason for that was the fact that we had so many active/dedicated guys due to going invite only.
edit: Still haven't received any PM's yet. If anyone is interested, please read post 49.

Agreed. And put my name on the "draw from a hat again" list. Only way to be fair while also avoiding a lengthy and drawn out team selection process.
I haven't received any PM's yet, so there hasn't been much interest in the final position.
Do you guys know anyone who might be interested with at least 1,000 posts and been here for at least 1 year. If so, maybe see if they want to take part? While we still have a little over a month to go, I'd like to have all 30 confirmed soon so we can do the process of picking names in a hat for teams.

Worse comes to worse I'm sure some of the draft freaks like you and WS wouldn't mind picking twice (different teams)

I can ask eaglesmaster if he wants in. He knows his prospects.
Same as last year, I put all of our names in a hat to draw teams. This is probably the fairest way.

2010 LA Kings draft recap:
Brock Nelson drafted 22nd overall (long term project, upside 2nd line Center, downside 4th line center. Ok pick I guess but not the better option as of right now.)
Beau Bennett , drafted 46th overall
(long term project again, top 6 potential, dissapointing season as far as is actual draft position but not so bad considering I got him in mid 2nd round)
Calle Jarnkrok, drafted 52nd overall
(Again long term project, top 6 potential, impressive season in the SEL, Good pick I guess)
Michael Bournival, drafted 70th overall
(Solid checking player, Good season overall, good pick)
Kent Simpson, drafted 82nd overall
(Solid netminder, drafted late 3rd round pick, I like this pick)
Alex Theriau, drafted 112th overall
(Bad pick, I felt like drafting a defenseman instead of a forward because of my previous pick should have went with Freddie Hamilton which was my other option)
Marek Hrivik, drafted 149th overall
(Not so bad pick IMO, but he went surprinsingly undrafted at the actual draft, we will see if I was right later on)
Austin Levi, drafted 172th overall
(Good pick at that stage I think)
Samuel Carrier, drafted 202th overall
(Same situation as Levi)
can i join? If there is still room. (was stuck in hospital for most of the day)
My low post count is due to a few reasons.
1. I was a mod on some other obscure forum for a few years
2. I know quite a few people who post on hf and talk to them privately so I rarely feel the need to express my opinions publicly.
3. I really don't care much for arguing with people who do not know how to do so, which sadly appears to be a high demographic. I do not care if I am proven wrong, but when people blatantly disregard my arguments and focus only on semantics or simply put words in my mouth, well frankly I am not being paid so why should I educate people?
4. I lurk more then I post, partly because I don't like getting caught up in pointless "arguments", I speak irl to some of the posters here. And frankly there are usually people who say what I want to say before me and being redundant is not my style. 10 ignorant people putting their voices together does not make their statement any less ignorant.
Haha regardless im sure overlords would make sure that I check prolly every day multiple times.
Bit of a weak draft for Calgary, I'm happy about Larsson though. Vesterholm twins I hope get drafted I think they would be great top 6 forwards in the future.
