I think this just may be a move by the Rangers to make McD look seriously injured in an attempt to get Cooke suspended longer.

I'm a little miffed about the lack of provided injury information, especially pertaining to Staal.

If McD had anything seriously wrong with him Valentenko would already be on his way up here.

Torts' silence on injuries is increasingly standard at this time of year...as the play-off run tightens up, less information is going to be shared. It is frustrating for fans (esp for those teams that are scrambling for a berth) but it is a smart move by any team to keep some of that information away from the press and other teams. Unfortunately, it means keeping that info from the teams' fans as well...think we just have to live with it.
It is likely the case that Staal re-tweaked his knee on Friday and McD has likely been told to take the day off as a precautionary measure (though I wouldn't completely discount the idea that he was kept off the ice to keep the heat on Cooke).

Torts playing possum.

pull'em in close, then hit'em with photon torpedoes and phasers!

I agree with fitzy and doc, torts is going to keep a bit quiet and mcd is probably being given the day off to make sure he is fine. If something was wrong v-tank would be on his way here by now. Little worried about staal though as he isn't skating today guessing he won't go tomorrow.

Hope its just to let McD rest. Really interested in what happened to Marc, though.

hopefully its precautionary with MCD and to give stall some much needed rest.

i can understand the secrecy with the injuries here, down the stretch teams will be looking for anything to get the upper hand, like send a ******* like cooke out to chop at staals knee for example.

staal's injury obviously occured during the montreal game. i am a season ticket holder sitting 4 rows from lundqvist. it happened at the end of the first period and it looked like a stick had caught him in the face / eye. I was concerned but he skated off and returned for rest of the game in the 2nd period. I am perplexed as to what is wrong with him..

McD - just happy he did not break his jaw ala Calgary player on Brad Stuart.. that would have been difficult to watch...

I would be fine with Staal taking the rest of the week off. Our good play recently has given us some cushion. Perfect time to give some of our big guys a bit of a rest/heal up before the real test begins.

I'm pretty certain Henrik will probably get a night off this week as well.

I don't see 6 pts as a big enough cushion to rest Lundqvist, considering Carolina has a game in hand. I think you might have an argument if it were Biron but I'm playing Lundqvist until it is clinched.

Back to the topic, I hope Staal and McD are back soon, I much prefer them to Gilroy.

So expect McDonagh to play tomorrow, but not Staal.

Torts would not elaborate on Staal's condition, saying only that he is "injured"

Staal was missed badly yesterday. And it would suck to lose him for a good amount of time...

Definitely has to be the knee than. Didn't look like he had injured anything else Friday night. Good news on McD though. Couldn't afford both of them out of the lineup.

No idea what Staal's injury is. As I wrote yesterday, he looked okay walking in the hall. No splints, casts, crutches, pox or visible boils.

I think we can make it into the playoffs without Marc's services. But we sure as hell are going to need him when and if we get there.

I'm starting to become concerned about Staal. It's nice to hear that he is walking OK, but we really need him in the line up if we want to stay in 7th.

Maybe Torts is keeping quiet because the injury is in an area that isn't easily seen?

It looks like that Burrows spear did effect him after all.

Concussion or maybe vision problems since his eye seemed messed up after the high stick??

The only known injury was his tweaked knee regardless of whether or not he has a limp it may be bothering him when he skates, stops and cuts. Let's hope he just needs a few games off and it isn't too serious.

Blessing in disguise for Staal. The guy needs some rest after a very long season and an All-Star appearance. Not the worst thing in the world for him to sit out for a week with an eye-injury and rest.

On a side-note, Hank needs to get some rest here soon too even if the games are spaced out. Find a spot where he can sit consecutively for 4-5 days and I think it will help him in the playoffs.

Rangers have 3 days off between Boston and Buffalo, so giving Johnson a start in either of the next 2 games gives Henrik a relatively light workload for the next 8 days.
