for a rookie, this is totally unacceptable. I was completely expecting 50 goals.

Completely unrealistic.

He should have like 80 by now.

Not bad stats for your first 82 games, here to hoping it only gets better from here on out.

i think thats much more on the high end of peoples expectations. I think most hopeful we coulda been was 60 points. I woulda been disappointed under 40 points.

Color me happy. Very happy.

I thought that he was going to hit something like 47 points or something like that.

So if he hits 50 points I would be very pleased.

He also proved throughout the season that he can take hits and can play a full season and not be injured.

Very solid first season for Ennis.

I think in my points prediction for each player before the year started, I had Ennis at like 16 goals and 41 points. So he's exceeded my expectations statistically, as well as his on-ice performance. He looks like he can control the play more than most of our forwards already.

The thing about Ennis that I love is his work along the boards. He always looks like hes gonna get crushed or squeezed off but he always manages to pop out of a check. And some of the silkiest hands in the league to boot.

Ennis also has 45 points so far this season, which is good enough for 3rd on the team in scoring; Vanek and Boyes lead the way with 62 and 49 points respectively. He's got a damn good chance of snagging that #2 spot by the end of the year. Not a bad way to cap-off a rookie campaign.

My only gripe about Ennis, and it's not really a gripe, is that we've only seen glimpses of the sniper he's been throughout his career.

He's seemed to settle into the role as creator, which is fine because it fills a need, but I'd like to see him take a few more shots, if for no other reason than to see if his previous goal-scoring success translates at this level.

He's gotten better as the season has gone on, too. I didn't expect him to be this good this season. Next season I think he's going to skip the sophomore slump and have a gigantic year. God, is he talented.

When he's on, which he has been lately, he's a real pleasure to watch. I think he's improved defensively throughout the year too.

With the sick goals he has been scoring lately, I think we can safely say the Afiongenov comparisons are pretty much dead. He has a very good shot.

I don't think it's safe to assume he'll skip the sophomore slump, although I certainly hope he does! The "slump" has victimized a ton of very good players, and there's no reason to think Ennis is above that. Don't forget, the entire league will have a season's worth of video and scouting on him. He might seem shifty and creative out there now, but his moves that are working this year won't surprise anyone next year. Hopefully he stays ahead of the curve and proves me wrong!

Woooo there. Just because Ennis has had a handful of games where he "mostly" isn't trying to imitate Maxim doesn't mean he is "cured" of that. He is a rookie and he will go back to those god aweful tendencies from time to time, but hopefully over the next 82 games, he can eliminate or minimize those comparisons. He is a playmaker first and formost, he admires Briere and it shows. And when paired with Tenacious G, he forms the planet eater (chains words) Mini-tron.

I know you were being sarcastic but i remember when there were a few looney sabre fans that had all these completly nutcase expectations of Vanek when he was a rookie too. People seemed to think since he tore up the ahl during the lock up that he was gonna score a bajillion points in his rookie year

Looking back it was quite comical some of the projected numbers they had for Vanek.

Ennis is doing great though He's quickly becoming one of my favorites.
