It'd be interesting to see if anyone ever did that though. Say they chipped the puck out to center, far enough for a forward to get off, but not the defenseman, so the guy coming on brought the defenseman a stick before the other team got back in the zone. That would be pretty awesome.

Exactly. If legal, I can't believe I haven't seen it done in nearly 30 years of watching hockey.

The way I understand it, that is illegal. Or else someone could just slide a stick from the bench to the dman so he doesn't have to go get a new one.

Rule 10.3: A player who has lost or broken his stick may only receive a stick at his own player's bench or be handed one from a teammate on the ice.

Rule 53.1 says the same thing.

Rule 10.5: A player who participates in the play, who checks or who intentionally prevents the movement of an opponent, or who intentionally plays the puck while carrying two sticks (including while taking a replacement stick to his goalkeeper) shall incur a minor penalty......

So it looks like it's legal, but it really takes you out of the play until you are able to deliver the stick. I could see situations where the player without the stick doesn't know it's coming and the player trying to deliver it ends up chasing him around. Meanwhile, the puck's in your net.

No, that would be throwing the stick, which is a minor penalty in it's own right. What footnight posted appears to be totally legal as long as the player delivering the stick doesn't play the puck or play the body of an opposing player in any way.

I still can't get my head around the fact that the Kings have lost only 4 times in regulation in their last 25 games, yet here they are fighting for a playoff spot. It's not like their record in the previous 40 games was poor. They've had 3 great runs and two big dips. That should equate to a comfortable playoff position. It's anything but.

After the Kings first terrible run this season, I said to a coworker that they can't afford two of those to be comfortable in the playoffs. TUrns out to be very true. To be safely in the playoffs, which in the west means at the top of the conference, you simply can not have more than one bad stretch of more than 4 or 5 games.

In the West there are the top 3, the bottom 3, and everyone in between is on the fringe.

You know, because the Devils have been doing well in the Weak East, it somehow meas that Kings fans can't talk about their own team without bringing up the Devils.
