Alright, so can anyone find out the conditions of the first round pick between Colorado and St. Louis, so that me and the Blues GM can figure out how it's going to go down?

This might be helpful for some people who are wondering which picks they have.

According to that link:

Quote:
#9 - St. Louis Blues
From Avalanche (Blues option if pick is in top 10)

Traded Chris Stewart, Kevin Shattenkirk, 2011 or 2012 conditional second round pick (2011 if Blues send 2011 first round pick, else 2012) (?-?) to Blues for Erik Johnson, Jay McClement, 2011 or 2012 conditional first round pick (2011, unless Blues pick is top 10 in which case Blues have option to defer pick to 2012) (?-?) on 2011-02-19
As I understand it, if the Blues' pick is top ten, they have the option to keep that pick and send Colorado their 2012 1st, in return for Colorado's 2012 1st. But if they finish outside the top ten, Colorado gets this year's pick, and the Blues get Colorado's 2011 1st in return. I think.

Guess we'll have to wait until the end of the regular season to see how it shakes down...

We have 3 possible options regarding trades:

A. Stick with the same format as previous year, and allow no trades.

B. Allow trades, but ONLY for 2011 draft picks. Random example being 12th overall for 18th overall and 93rd overall.

C. Allow trades for players, prospects and picks.

I personally vote for option A.

I also vote for A and I vote that we start some kind of in-season pool for the people in on this draft ...

Something that involves long term, keeper league or something like that

I'm sorry WS, I didn't quite get that. You'll have to make yourself more clear.

I would definitely join a keeper league as a GM with posters in this draft, but there's no way I would have time to run the thing. If anyone would be interested in doing so we could discuss it further.

A for me as well, I'd prefer no trades at all.

I'm down for the keeper league as well, I could help with organizing but I don't know much about the settings/sites/etc.

Pretty sure its a 2nd rounder heading towards St-Louis with a 1st rounder going to colorado. The condition is if the blues pick is top ten they have the option of keeping it and switching to 2012 first round pick, in which case the Blues would forfeit the 2011 2nd round pick for colorados 2012 2nd round pick.

In regards to draft picks involved in that trade

Colorado gets: St-Louis 1st round pick (2011 or 2012)
* condition -> If pick is top 10 St-Louis has option to keep 2011 pick and give up the 2012 pick in its stead

St-Louis gets: Colorados 2nd round pick (2011 or 2012)
* condition -> If St-Louis chooses to keep the 2011 pick then they receive colorado's 2012 2nd round pick instead of the 2011 2nd round pick

Hope that clears things up!

Zibanejad will probably go top 10, considering the group of posters we have here

Sharks draft so late, I will definitely not be able to get my hands on him.

So far my picks are(according to the site i linked yesterday)
Round-current round pick#-overall pick #
1-25-25
2-26-56
3-24-85
4-25-115
6-14-164 (assuming rangers don't resign jody shelley)
6-25-175

My fifth round pick belongs to Atlanta while my 7th round pick belongs to Pittsburgh

The 6th round pick I get from the rangers moves up to a 5th round pick if they re-sign Jody Shelley, so far I am assuming they won't.

What shall we do for conditional picks? Examples being pick 48, 65, 78, 176

Conditional picks suck for mock drafting.

The fair thing to do would be to try to equilibrate the draft picks,

e.g. if Devils and Stars are involved with the pick, then the pick would go to the team with the less picks.

Just a suggestion, as there is no way to figure out the future.

A lot of the conditions are in regards to whether a player re-signs with a team or not. For those I would say we could analyze them case by case and come to a group decision on whether or not the team in question would actually sign that player.

For example: As the Sharks I have a conditional 5th or 6th round pick from the rangers, with the condition being the Rangers signing Jody Shelly. I do not think the rangers will re-sign him, so I should get the 6th instead of the 5th, though if more people think the rangers are going to re-sign Shelly then I will gladly grab the 5th rounder instead

In the case of the 2nd round pick Chicago traded to Ottawa, i think its safe to assume that they will give up the worst of the three picks, so probably their own.

I think what confuses me most is the value of the compensatory 2nd round pick that was awarded to Montreal and was traded to the islanders for Wisniewski.

We'll figure the conditions for those picks when the time comes closer.

On a different note, I'm hoping Carolina misses the playoffs so I get a better pick.
