since when is a 40-50 goal score being overpaid for with basicly 2 1st round picks and Chistov?

A young one at that... The deal is not perfect, and perhaps does not totally meet the needs 100% of the parties inolved, but it is not totally laughable..

clearly, the logic is faultering for the Avs with Footer signing away, but perhaps not.... I think the value of Tanguay and Hejduk is being understated by many posters... and of course, the Avs don't let them go for nothing... again, Hejduk is a 40-50 goal scorer 90 point man.. Tanguay is a 25-30 goal scorer 60-80 points man(with upside still? ) and both are young still just hitting their prime...

AND I would hazard to say I WOULD tend to bias a bit in my teams direction... thats what a good GM would do, no? Or perhaps the goal is to give your players away when you make a trade?

This is a new NHL where Hejduk is close to being a UFA and is overpaid.

Also the UFA market lowers the value of veteran players on the trade market. A Hejduk cannot bring you three young highlevel prospects anymore.

If the Ducks wanted to pay the money to get a potential 40 goal scorer they would simply bid for Palffy rather than trading away their youth.

As an Avs fan, I don't like that deal.

Give up proven, young forwards that could help us win another Cup THIS YEAR, for some prospects and very young guys that could help us win another Cup in the future?

No, keep Tanguay and Hejduk.

Foote's already gone, so we can redirect that money towards re-signing Forsberg. The only real reason to add Naslund to the Avs, is if we can only sign Forsberg IF we also take Naslund. He doesn't offer anything more than Hejduk or Tanguay can offer.

We will, however, need to find someone to fill the void left by Foote.

Overpaid? A 50 goal scorer for $4m a year is overpaid?

Hejduk is a 50 goal scorer with the potential for much more in a new, wide-open NHL.
