He's borrowing John Sterling's helmet and there's enough room inside for Kay and the USS Ronald Reagan.

Absolutely. I laugh when people blame the lack of hockey talk on the host. All the radio hosts are given guidelines from upstairs and if they stray from those guidelines they hear about from management. When Max Kellerman was on at 10 AM here in NY him and Louie and Lundberg used to talk about all sorts of off the wall stuff. Comic books, superheros, rap music, rock music, sabremetrics etc. Than ESPN put the gag on Lundberg and the other support staff and brought in Brian Kenny to try to make the show more "conventional." Than they just fired Max and filled his time slot with the king of conventional and uninteresting, Colin Cowherd.

There's the same amount of hockey talk on Kay's show as there is on everyone else's show. Little to none. Blame ESPN for that, not Kay and LaGreca.

Can't stand Michael Kay, he's a yankee fanboy that annoys the hell out of me during the broadcasts. Worst part is, the rest of the guys, O'Neill, Flaherty, Cone, Leiter are actually fairly decent. Kay just bothers the hell out of me.

His show is a whole different story. Any time anyone disagrees with him he raises his voice and starts yelling. I realize he's passionate about certain topics but screaming is so annoying to listen to and he just sounds genuinely angry.

On a side note, any publicity for hockey and the rangers makes me happy.

Disagree, i think LaGreca throws it in there a lot more than he has to. Hes always comparing things to hockey. Could he do it more? Sure, but then the ratings would go down. Simple as that.

Well, they found a helmet that fit him. He's wearing the helmet, jersey, hockey pants and gloves.

Kellerman is a duche. I hate him.

I used to listen to garbage free radio, and he always slammed hockey and groped himself over the Yankees and boxing.

I've heard him say hockey isn't a real sport and hockey players are not athletes.

He's a punk, and I hope someone knocks him out one day.

I'm not saying I like him. But he was doing different things on his show than everyone other radio show. If you enjoy the typical 4+ hours of callers complaining about why Player X was dropped to number 5 in the batting order instead of hitting cleanup than you're listening options are plentiful.

I never heard him slam hockey on ESPN1050. You're right about the Yankees and the boxing though.

Considering that he's one of HBO's main boxing analysts, it's certainly not out of the range of possibility for that to happen.

XM/Sirius is amazing.

24/7 hockey.

Experts all day on hockey.

I used to listen to ESPN radio and WFAN all day at work waiting for anyone other then Don or Summers talk about hockey.

Everyone on those stations other then LaGreca (spelling?) and Summers, openly dislike hockey.

The sad thing is ESPN radio is supposed to be the radio "home" of the New York Rangers.

ESPN, as far as I'm concerned, can go **** themselves. After ditching hockey because of the lockout. As if it were the sports or the fans fualts.

I PRAY the NFL gets locked out. And see how hypocritical ESPN is afterwards.

ESPN hardly "ditched" hockey. They made an offer to the NHL. VS made a better offer. The NHL went with VS.

It's just business folks.

ESPN and WFAN.

I grew so frustrated with them both I decided to pay for radio (XM/Sirius).

I understand their producers are to blame, but that's the point.

None of those stations care about what I care about, so I left them and went to where hockey is cared about.

I used to listen to Kellerman everyday. He used to openly admit he hated hockey. Francessa, Kay, and others were clueless to the sport.

Only LaGreca and Summers cared about hockey.

Eitherway, regardless of the "Nothing But Crosby" stigma... I'm happy with VS and NBC.

Their coverage is very good. Even if somewhat biased at times.

And NHL Home Ice is amazing. Its the only thing I listen to in the car. It drives my family crazy lol.

You're right. I don't think VS gets enough credit from hockey fans. There's a lot of angst over not being on ESPN but, especially towards the end, hockey was being shafted big time by ESPN's coverage. VS's NHL coverage is much more dedicated and in-depth.

Hockey on VS has been much better than ESPN, I think the problem most of us have is the terrible coverage that first season when have the providers wouldn't carry VS unless it was a premium plan or not at all. Not sure how much of that was the fault of VS.

Right, that's the thing, ESPN covers everything.

So hockey had to take a backseat to college football, college basketball, baseball, football, golf, tennis...

On VS hockey gets more attention.

Now we get NHL Network, VS, NBC, MSG, and NHL Home Ice.

Much better then only ESPN.

Though, I do miss some of the guys they had covering hockey on ESPN. Thorn, Melrose, Pang.

That's what I miss about the ESPN coverage as well and throw Clemente in there too. The thing with NBC and versus is sometimes their presentation is amateurish at times. Bad camera work, crappy graphic displays and screwed up time clocks seem to show up frequently in the games. The coverage is good but the presentation not so much.
