Why not Scott Stevens ?

I mean what the hell ?

if they cant afford the big time D's then he's certainly better than nothing

he's a good penalty killer
you wanted someone to give primeau a rough time

kaberle mccabe
stevens klee
berg pilar

i bet he goes for well under 3 million too

Two years off?

We want this team to get younger - not older.

If Stevens was even a shell of his former self, NJ wouldn't let him go. Is he even ok to play?

He would have to come very cheap - and even then I would only sign him to mentor guys like Colaiacovo and Pilar.

You're right in saying he's probably got a good season or two left in him, but If I were JFJ I'd probably be trying to get younger. Think more about the long-term.

No. He constantly runs out of position to make hits. He is a liability, not a steady D. As he's gotten older he's got considerably worse. I remember him running after a ton of Leafs in recent years and just getting walked around. Him backing down from Tucker and Corson doesn't sit too well with me either. Just not a fan. Maybe 5 years ago.

If we could Stevens to a 1 year deal for 2 Million then bring it on. But I am not interested in signing him to any mega bucks or any multi year deal.

I say the same.

I'm assuming most Leafers expect a "high risk, high reward" type roster this season.
