Jimmy Howard and Pekka Rinne over Lundqvist!?? woww
I don't see how you CANNOT have Pekka Rinne in the Vezina conversation. If there is one name that deserves a nomination it is - without a doubt - Pekka Rinne.
Henirk certainly deserves the vezina as recognition for being one of the top goalies in the league for a while
however, i haven't looked up the stats, and dont plan too, but i dont see how anyone who watched him this season can say it was his best
Henrik is a top goalie, im not challenging that, i just dont think this season was the best example of how good he is....and thats based soley on my eyes watching him play nearly every game he played this season
You're right I dont watch the western conference...(how could i without nhl package)
But how in the world can they have Jimmy Howard over Hank??? It should come down to Thomas and Lundqvist
Just paying attention to the results out west would let you know Rinne is in contention.
Honestly, right now it's between Rinne and Thomas, with Lundqvist coming in at #3. But it's close. If the season ends today, Lundqvist may get nominated but likely won't win. He needs to pad his stats a bit in the last 8 games.
Also, you have to keep Price in the conversation. He's right in the mix.
I didn't read the whole thread, but I feel the feats he has accomplished, mostly the 6-time30-win thing might help convince a few fellas that there may not be much of a better time. Or maybe there will be.
I don't understand how people can say Lundqvist has been average this year. Statistically, he is having one of his best seasons yet. Sure he may have a had a couple rough games, but so does every goalie throughout the course of the season.
Henrik will definitely be a finalist, and I honestly think it will come down to him vs thomas...does he deserve it more than thomas, HELL YES. Thomas stats are padded and he has played less games. Kinda reminds of of rocky vs drago where drago gets all his stuff the cheap way and rocky gets it through hardwork and sheer strength and determination. YES I JUST SAID THAT.
Ill take henrik over tim thomas anyday. if they dont take into account the 10 more games played, and everything else. Its fixed as hell.
Henrik has been nominated before and finally deserves it, thomas could never carry a team on his back the way henrik does. Thats a vezina winner, its not all about stats, especially stats that are all about the first half. The second half makes a player, a competitor, a winner, thats what henrik is.
I don't follow his stats except for his 10 shutouts which is great, but he looks like an average goalie this season.
So you don't follow the games either?
Hank got a lot of crap around here for some softies given up, but people need to watch A) other teams play B) the goals that opposing goalies give up. Every goalie gives up some softies, but Hank stops so many other guys wouldnt have a shot at, in addition to making so many difficult saves look easy.

It hasn't been Henrik's best season, but average? Really? That's downright crazy. I think some of you guys are a little off on your definition of a league average goalie.
For those lazy enough to find it or your own, or if it's hard to find in a couple of days, click the link.
It was a nice article about how appreciated Lundqvist's performance is among the Rangers and that the nhl.com headline was "Lundqvist for Vezina?". He's getting some recognition and appreciation outside of New York. And it's deserved. Where would this team be without their goalie? The team has been able to count on and rest against his back every single year with his consistency. Yes, that consistency that is impossible to see for fans with goalie tunnel vision. Hank's play and the expectancies on him are skewing your goalie standards.

One of you haters tell me which of his previous years was better than this year and I will have an argument for you.
I'm an enormous supporter of Lundqvist and have said many times that he is better than Richter and Giacomin. That said, and statistics aside, he has looked like a very good goalie this year, but definitely not as razor-sharp consistently as I've seen him before.

Hank went through a rough stretch when it seemed like the entire team was slumping.
Before that, and as to this point after that, he's looked absolutely amazing. Just my opinion, though.
The knock I have on Thomas winning the Vezina this year would be this-
He has currently started only 48 games for Boston. If he starts 8 of their last 10 that means he started only 58 games this season behind one of the best teams in the league.
I'm sorry, but I think alot of the better goalies would have better numbers than they currently have with a workload of a dozen less games played.
Price, Rinne or Hank are the most deserving in my opinion.
