I think Moller does well but still pray JW comes back during the playoffs.

I would also move down Smyth to the 4th line for a few games to get him rested for the playoffs.

Penner-Kopitar-Moller
Richardson-Handzus-Brown
Ponikarovsky-Stoll-Simmonds
Smyth-Lewis-Westgarth/Hollaway?

I think these lines are balanced and have a nice combo of speed/size.

Isn't it a coincidence that the day they announced the home plate logo as our normal logo for next season...Williams goes down???

I told you that logo was bad luck...

Haha same. Love it.

Sort of a digression, but it's nice that these guys all know each other coming up through the system, as well. That sort of familiarity can only help.

(I'm sure it's like this in a lot of places, but it helps to have a solid system instead of a bunch of new faces every year due to trades, etc, imo)

I pray that line scores if ONLY so I can see Moller try to hug Penner

Penner could probably smuggle Moller into the offensive zone in his jersey

There was a mistake made. That mistake was that Jones was somehow better than Harrold. That mistake contributed to our downfall.

Ryan Smyth is just not an NHL player right now, in March of 2011. Murray has shown tons of patience with this guy and he just keeps getting worse each game. Eventually there is a point where you just need to shut it down, and maybe if these reports are true we have finally reached that point.

Losing Williams is a big blow though, he has been the Kings most consistent winger all season. But I think Moller can thrive finding space with Kopitar and Penner.
Smyth has one goalin 23 games. Enough said.

How come the LA Kings are reporting Moller called up from the ECHL and not the AHL??

Ontario's closer to LA than Manchester is, they did that with Clune last year and someone else this year, not sure exactly who.. maybe Dwight King

I almost remember having a couple arguments on here about how he is injury prone and I was assured he was past ever having a major injury again.........

That's all I'll say. No need to rub salt in the wound.

I wouldn't call a dislocated shoulder a major injury. Its a sucky injury, not a major one. Someone between minor and major... just a regular old injury as far as I'm concerned.

No one is ever PAST having a potential major injury in the future. Thinking so or assuring someone else as such is asinine.

Word it however you'd like, but this is just another long term injury to one of the most injury prone players in the league.

That stat is not indicative of Harrold's play. Yes he is better than Jones, Drewiske, and a wore out O'donnell. That doesn't change that fact that I'm uncomfortable with him in our starting lineup come playoff time.

I think Moller will do well on the top line, but why does TM still put Smyth on the 2nd line? he has been awful

The Kings have been extremely lucky nearly all season with injuries save for a short bad spat from Mitchell and Poni. We should be counting our blessings that we haven't had half our team go down like several other teams have instead of all *****ing that one guy got injured at the end of the season. Does it suck? SUre, injuries always suck. But guess what? They also always happen. Williams falls on the unlucky side on injuries more often than most, but as a whole the Kings have been much more on the lucky side as a team.

I am astonished some people take this injury as a condemnation of Lombardi resigning him.

He's our second best forward, so it sucks. The timing sucks. It sucks mostly because guys like Brown, Smyth, Simmonds, Stoll, Poni & Zus have fallen off the face of the goal scoring earth. But just because we have been lucky with injuries so far doesn't mean we don't need to learn how to win when one of our top players comes out of the lineup.

Last year the Wings had half their team missing for half the season.

This season Crosby has been out a long ass time, as well as others.

Vancouver lost nearly their entire d-core.

Chicago played for a period without Toews.

Boston without Savard.

It happens so everyone should just suck it up and file this under "a naturally occurring and ultimately unavoidable part of life".

Great post. Seriously it sucks but the Kings have been very lucky (knock on wood) where injuries are concerned this season so stuff like this comes with the territory.

Hopefully Oscar shines!

It would be easier for OM to shine if JW was on the team but nobody said making it to the NHL was supposed to be easy. If we got Parse back and kept OM up I think we would be in really good shape but I am not holding my breath.

My guess is that if and when Parse returns to the lineup, he'll get a look at LW (which is where he was playing prior to his injury), perhaps in place of Ryan Smyth, seeing how he has been nonexistent and a non-factor of late. Parse can add some speed and creativity to the 2nd line, which is something that line desperately needs.

As for where Smyth will fit in? He can be a special teams player on the PP and be relegated to reduced ice time (which he needs).
