I've said this in earlier threads but I don't understand why everyone wants to play Washington so badly in the first round....
Yes, we BRUTALIZED them in two major blowouts, 6-0,7-0....but at the same time these are the playoffs we're talking about and everything that happened in the first 82 games goes out the door.
Not only will that Washington team have those 2 blowouts in the back of their mind, but they'll also remember last year's series against Montreal. You know they're going to be going 200% to make sure they're not part of another first round upset. I really don't see them bowing out in the first round again to be honest.
They've been playing great playoff type hockey in the past month (as have we). And I don't care what anyone says about his stats this year, AO is still up there with Crosby and Stamkos as an elite talent in the league. I wouldn't be surprised to see him completely explode in the playoffs again.
Now Boston on the other hand, has been playing mediocre and Thomas has certainly come down to earth.
Washington is playing their best hockey of the season. I wouldn't want to play them. We can beat them, certainly, but people are getting a little complacent.

Goaltending is an issue with Flyers but that's a very good and also very deep team.
Meh...if we stay in 7th any of the teams we play are gonna have the same stats in the first round..I say bring on the best,most hated rivals..If we go deep we're gonna face them anyway..
Can't always get what you want though! Lol anyone but philly or Tampa. I think we'd match up better than people think against Boston. In just praying we ride this hot streak into the playoffs.
I want Pittsburgh, and I want Pittsburgh bad. They've faced us in the playoffs four times, and knocked us out all four times. I want some bloody ****ing revenge.

Ideally I feel we'd have the best chance against Boston. Games between the two are always tight and generally low-scoring. Don't feel we'd be physically overmatched either and Thomas hasn't exactly been matching his early season form of late.

I would hope that if we were lucky enough to be in the Eastern Conference Semifinals against Pittsburgh, that the last thing on anyone's mind would be Matt Cooke.
I think we can take on anyone, just not Philly. They have too much depth for us. But I'm confident we can take any of the other teams to a game 7, maybe beat em
I don't like to play the 'who do you want in the playoffs' game. Any opponent in the playoffs is going to be tough and if the Rangers are going to get far in the playoffs they're going to have to play one or more of the teams people will want to avoid in the first round anyway. I'm a big fan of winning; I just want to see the Rangers get as high in the standings as they can. If they can get up to the 6th or even 5th seed I think that would be a great accomplishment considering it looked like they were sliding their way out of the playoffs a month ago. Luckily it seems the Rangers are getting hot at the right time. If they can keep it up they have a chance to be a tough opponent for anybody.
I want Philly. We are not going to win the cup this year, but beating Philly would be so nice. Their goaltending is atrocious, and they might underestimate us. I could see an upset. Plus even if we lose, I would just love to beat them up physically.
Washington is too hot right now and Ovie always seems to play well against us.

Pitts would be nice, we could probably beat them in 7 considering either team can't beat each other on home ice.
Tampa is meh. They don't worry me, but they would probably end up beating us. I just picture the Washington series when we were up 3-1 and they came back to beat us in 7.
All of our potential opponents are good teams. If we're on our game, we have a good chance against any of them. If we're not on our game, we're done against anyone.
That exactly my feeling. None of the teams are unbeatable and what matters most is how we play not who we play. If we bring our A game we can compete with any team.
