Brian Gionta on Mark Messier's Ultimate Leader!

Similar to ASG voting but with just Captains.

Our beloved Brian Gionta is on the chopping block today against the Phoenix Coyotes' Dhane Doan.

"doan is a leader 2nd to none"

"Gionta is a sparkplug who sits on top of the Canadiens in goal scoring"

Looks like the NHL thinks it Doan.

How does this gimmick work anyway?

We vote Gionta to win and then every other fanbase calls us pathetic.

Thanks!

Looks like a 'playoff style tree' and you vote. Then, I assume based on how many votes each Captain earns, that's how they move on.

I love Gio but I think Doan is a better leader overall. Hard to say though, not like we're in the locker room.

Gionta always seems to get big goals though. Like ones that put the team closer by 1 or to give the team a two goal lead.

Why do I feel like these "leader" discussions and polls are a bit stupid? We don't know what is going on in the locker room or on the ice. Sure, scoring goals is nice but does scoring a tying goal or OT winner makes you more of a leader? I don't know.

A leader will score those timely goals imo. A true leader has the skills to elevate his game when its most important, aka when the game is tied or in overtime.

Or in the playoffs, Gio had 9 goals in 19 games last year.
