Let them do it and let's put the whole thing behind us. Debate goes on and on. I like Mats, liked Dougie and Wendel more, but it is the past. (Still miss yelling, "Dougie!), though. Give him his props, nbd imho.

There's no way Kadri has the balls to wear 13. That would be like Aki Berg wearing 93, just wouldn't happen.

agreed, kadri in no way in hell gets to wear 13 that number is freaking sacred man lol.

i actually always wanted one of our young prospects to wear the number 19 but lupul ended up wearing it, always wanted kadri to get it but guess that didnt happen. Makes you wonder what armstrong picks next year since he said he might change it.

I've never understood this weird attachment to uniform numbers that some sports fans have. It's the man who wore the number that is important not the number itself. Are the minds of sports fans so simple that they can only associate one number with one player? I just don't get it.

What if on the night of Sundin talks to Kadri and says he's fine with him wearing the #13? Can you imagine what that'd do for Kadri's confidence?

My only complaint is, it's too soon.

Personally I wish the Leafs would honor others as well. Tucker deserves a night also.

Tucker was mostly famous for his character, not his skill. If tucker gets a night then so should Domi.

Nah I think Kadri will were 93, Colborne will wear 13

But honestly I don't think you guys need to worry about Kadri wearing 13. Even if he stays on the team he'll probably remain 43, look at Bozak and Kulemin, still 42 and 41.

At their best, I liked both players but players like Tucker and Domi getting sweater ceremonies would be an embarrassment for a 95 year old sports organization with 13 Stanley Cups. That's the stuff of expansion franchises trying to create franchise history.

Is it a coincidence that Sundin's ceremony will take place after Richard Peddie has left MLSE? I don't think so. I bet the only person at MLSE who Sundin could still be ticked at is Peddie.

i.e. Cliff Fletcher was merely the interim GM hired by Peddie to facilitate the fire sale ordered by Peddie after Ferguson got canned.

Now way Tucker gets his number honoured.

He will(with others) get a night down the road similar to the way The Hound Line Was celebrated this year.

Regardless of the circumstances of his leaving Toronto, Mats was still one of the greatest players to play for Toronto, and deserves to have his number honored.

There was never a doubt it would happen, question was when.

Some experts here gauranteed it would never happen why Burke was in charge.

I'm looking forward to the HOF Game in the year Sundin is inducted, that will be huge.

I don't associate 99 with just one player. I clearly remember Wayne Gretzky wearing it too -- not just Wilf Paiement.

If Tucker gets his number in the rafters it'll be considered in the same league as this:

Yeah...players whose contracts get bought out by a team don't usually get honored by a team. Hypocrisy if they did. As much as I liked Tucker in his prime....NO CHANCE.

Awesome, one of the greatest Leafs ever. Too bad after a long career of fantastic service we disrespectfully tried to ship him off a team he didn't want to leave for some budget return, least we can do is try to make it up to him with a jersey retirement.

I don't think I have ever actually heard a fellow Leaf fan see it in those terms...EXACTLY. Other organizations would have never ever dissed a guy who was the franchise, the captain and the leader for so many years. Of course the classless DB's down at MLSE would and did.

Sundin was all Class and was a stud. You don't trade a guy like that. You let him retire with honor. The Sundin saga was disgraceful.

He's retiring Dec. 31, 2011... sounds to me like Peddie will still be there for this ceremony.

Should be a great night.
