Did you read my post or the article? He said he believes it is a knee injury, if he didn't want to out them he wouldn't say anything at all. He could just talk about McDonagh and the Cooke situation and say Staal is going to miss tonight's game due to an undisclosed ailment. If you are still on the conspiracy theory that it is a hidden concussion where is the hit that caused it in the Montreal game? Why did he fly with the team to Pittsburgh with a concussion when their standard procedure is to leave that player behind for observation? You keep poking away with no evidence and no support for any claim, I am all ears if you got anything? Maybe a link to a hit in the Montreal game that could have caused a concussion.

From Rangers practice, looks like Sean Avery will remain a healthy scratch. Matt Gilroy as well. Staal tells reporters he's ready to play.

I'm a bit surprised. I thought Wolski wasn't putting in 100% effort. I wouldn't mind seeing what Avery does again in the line-up.

Take penalties?

I don't quite get what peoples fascination with Avery is...I don't hate him or anything but I feel like people are overrating him at this point because of the impact he had with the team back in the Jagr years.

At this point he isn't clearly more valuable than someone like Wolski, and Wolski has the chance to go off and put up a bunch of points at least; he has a much greater upside.

Honestly I just feel like Avery really doesn't have a place with this team anymore, and with an overall tougher team, his grit and agitating doesn't serve the same purpose it used to. He was basically replaced by Prust

Heard Anderson and Alfredson were back and was like ahhh crap but now that Staal is back it gives us a boost too.

Nice to see Gilroy dumped to the bench consistantly now. About time. He is a goner next yr for sure.

my thoughts?

Wolski is money in the shootout...well maybe not money, but hes good at em. Rangers play close games simply by their style and lack of talent. Rangers need 2 points.

to me its WAY more valuable to have a shootout specialist, like Christensen, like MZA, like Wolski, in the lineup over Avery.

This.

Avery is not the same player he was when he first came here. He doesnt have that effectiveness. He takes stupid penalties. He just isnt doing anything productive out there. At least wolski doesnt take bad penalties and has much more offensive ability to offer.

Agreed, he doesn't take bad penalties and has much more offensive ability but Wolski is a defensive liability. Not in regards to Avery (I don't want to get into an Avery/Wolski debate) but overall defensively.
