Correct. Players claimed on re-entry have their salaries split by the team for the duration of the contract.

IE, the Dallas Stars still have half of Avery's cap hit on their books.

im not totally convinced he'd get picked up...look at Z!
teams are focused on themselves, and its not like any other team picks up ML and feels better about their goaltending (other than us).

I COULD see a playoff team (like tampa) trying to snag him, to slow us down in the playoffs....but that would just aggravate our management against the other team, PLUS they'd have to keep him for another year, so teams like boston/pitt/wash wouldnt want the extra cap...
snagging him off of waivers would hurt the team who takes him, as much as it would hurt us (assuming hes not good enough to play on an NHL club...other than ours)

Nobody's going to claim him to vastly improve their goaltending for the playoffs...ML makes for a decent, cheap backup next year at 770k (a very attractive price tag for a backup), and there are always teams looking for a serviceable backup year to year.

Bob's last 5 games:

PIT - .968%
WAS - .667%
DAL - .933%
ATL - .878%
EDM - .960%

Consistency eh?

If he puts up a .67 next game, then yes.

That's not that unheard of as far as save percentages of individual games over a stretch. The .667 is a little misleading given that it is a save percentage over a nine shot sample.

I'm hoping that Bob gets hot down the stretch here and wins about 6 more games - especially the Pitt game! I think Lavi has to go with the hot hand as starter - so hopefully one of them is playing well!

With Leighton - while he certainly let in a bad one to lose it all last year, I believe he also stood on his head earlier in that game and gave them a chance when Chicago was pouring it on. He was key to the Boston come back, he blanked Montreal 3 times in one round (my fave Hextall played 84 play-off games for the Flyers and had 2 shu-outs)... He has also put up some pretty solid numbers for a Phantoms team that was HORRIBLE earlier in the season. I can't see them risking a recall unless there is an injury though - 3 goalies is a disaster. I am not suggesting he is the answer here... just that he should get some credit for the good things he has done.

BTW, how about Emery so far... 4-0 with the Ducks and very impressive GAA and SAV%... nice to see him beat the Hawks tonight. Would have been much nicer to see him do it 4 times last summer.

After Tuesday night’s disappointing performance by goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky against the Washington Capitals, many wondered if head coach Peter Laviolette would make the switch to Brian Boucher for the stretch run.

Panotch says Boosh gets his shot tonight in Pitt. Big test, need big results.

Saw tweet read Bob wrote Boosh. great game for Bob.

I think if no one claims the job in these last ten or so games, you gotta go with a rotation and ride the hot hand. Start Bob or Boosh game 1 and let him go until he makes some mistakes worthy of being yanked. That's the best thing you can do when you have no clear #1.

I would definitely rotate goalies in the playoff`s...unless one of them gets on a hot streak.
Start Boosh in the first round.

Seems to be offical. Bob is the starting goalie for playoffs.

While Bob is the intended starter to me if the season is a microcosm then Boosh and Bob will platoon (default position) with Leighton as paper umbrella insurance....

We are likely gonna see some form of rotation. None of them has proven he can get the job done over a longer strech of games during regular season.
By the way, did any of our goalies miss a single game due to injury this season?
