It was a good game. The third period is scary because it's happened a few times this year but I think we deserved to win the game on the whole. Not walking away or anything, but I think we were the better team.
SERIOUSLY questioning the decision to put Brown on the ice with 14 seconds left. I loved Brownie's game tonight but he has no business being on the ice in that situation. It's not the first time Terry has made some baffling decisions with personnel late in a game, but I sure hope it is the last.
Going for the hat-trick.... TM makes many WTF moves. Like Putting Ryan Smyth out there along with Handzus at the same time in OT. Just does not make sense..

why? Brown is usually on the ice to kill out a game, he plays on the 2nd pk unit with Lewis, and is the best defensive winger the kings have.

I was SCREAMING at my TV when he did that. NO IDIOT, DON'T PUT YOUR SLOWEST FORWARDS OUT THERE IN A MATCHUP WITH THORNTON AND COUTURE. WE HAVE THE POWER HERE, WE DON'T HAVE TO MAKE THIS HARD ON OURSELVES

Then put Stoll or Lewis out there. I think Simmonds is probably better defensively, anyway. Penner might be too. Brownie has never struck me as a gifted defensive player. Not a detriment, just not tremendous. Watch the replay again and he's on the complete wrong side of the puck, making a hope play to try and score a goal.

The Kings pk units are Kopitar-Handzus / Lewis-Brown / A mix of Stoll-Poni-Richardson
If you trust a player enough to have him on the 2nd unit of the #1 ranked pk (or at least it was) why would you not use him to kill out games?
The mistake was not putting Stoll out there for the faceoff (something i remember complaining about at least twice before this season, where the kings have given up goals late in any period straight off a faceoff because Stoll wasn't out there)
TM just doesnt utilize Stoll's faceoff ability enough, even though he knows about it since he uses him for opening pk faceoff's sometimes then he instantly changes
I think I am done with TM as well. Not using Stoll on that Face off that cost us the win in Reg is unacceptable. What if that had been a playoff game.
I agree SJ calls a timeout so Stoll who just finished a shift had time to recover. When I saw Kopitar take the face-off I said crap. Then he let's himself get tied up with the center so he can't get back. TM why use your 3rd best face-off man at this critical time. Stoll or Handzus coach!
It's the NHL! Not some bull **** NBA game. If you can't handle a back and forth game then hockey isn't for you.
It's not the matter of a back and forth game. What got me was it going to OT with the damn Sharks scoring with 4 secs left in the 3rd. If that don't piss you off than maybe hockey is not the sport for you? Last time I checked, that pisses many people off...
I'm not greedy. I don't give a crap if they go to a shootout in every single one of the remaining games, as long as it gets the team into the playoffs. One thing that this proves is it's damn hard to score versus the Kings...unless you get a bunch of lucky bounces in the last seconds of the game.
Just make the playoffs is all I want. The seeding will work itself out on its own. Plus, this team is road tested and play a type of game that translates well to road games. Making the playoffs, regardless of the seed is the most important thing. These Kings need to establish an identity of making the playoffs and have that be the standard before they can move to the next level.
we already lose the tiebreaker to pretty much every team, so we may aswell keep winning the shootouts
Jesus at all the people crying about shootouts. News flash, a team with 50 wins, all in shootouts, finishes ahead of a team with 49 regulation wins. The shootout rule is not going to matter
this, we were going to lose the shootout tie breaker anyway
we keep getting 2 points, tie breakers ain't gonna matter.

How else is Kopitar going to get better at this? He needs to be out here at critical times. You put him out when it matters. Not the result you wanted, and it would be safer to go with Stoll or Handzus maybe. But, at some point you need to put Kopitar out there.
A few things.....Brown has been going into beast mode for the past few games and he was dare I say Jonathan Toews good. Captain bringing it when it counts! Stoll makes me want to weep happy and bitter tears when he scores in the shootout because if he just learned to do that during a game then he'd be a 40 goal scorer. He needs to get hypnotized. Quick was great in big parts and shaky in some parts but this is a really good Sharks team. Moller should never be sent down. Watching Smyth attempt to look like a hockey player makes me want to vomit.
But we got the points and that's all that counts at this time!
Did that first SO shot count? Because the puck went back so it should not count as a goal. I watched it several times and I'm 100 % certain it went back.
I had no problem with Kopitar taking the faceoff, but that's not a faceoff that you win back, either tie it up in the neutral zone or win it into San Jose's offensive zone, Jackass play to try to win it back to a defender. Make San Jose go 200 ft to score with 8 seconds and not 100 feet in 12 seconds.

I don't think they cared that the puck went back, I think it was if Quick gets his stick on the poke check, it's immediately a dead puck.

That point would be when were not fighting for a god damn playoff spot. Plus were playing the Sharks who we are trying to catch.
