Also, I didn't like that Sauer fight. I honestly think we could have scored a goal there. We had great forechecking going on there and I'm also pretty sure one of their dmen had no stick. Wasn't the right time for Sauer to get out of the box and waste all that momentum just to go right back into the box.

Absolutely. It was a selfish play on Sauer's part, letting his emotions get the better of him. I'm sure Torts told him so as well. He'll learn.

Yeah, I didn't like that as well, but since sauer's one of the few dmen who defend lundqvist, I'm not going to complain about him being emotional. I'm sure he got a lesson in why that was a bad time to fight and will learn from it.

I mean it was probably the worst time a Ranger got into a fight this season. Hopefully Torts noticed and let Sauer know.
I'd like to see something like that Sunday.
MZA deserves a game or two off.
Wolski's been busting his ass lately. Like to see that line again.
Dubi takes Steps face-offs.

I think I would still put Prust on the 4th line. He's been amazing, but with the players who he's with (IMO).
Lundqvist was outstanding in a game his entire team mailed in. Thank you Prust for getting them the point.
My one issue with this game was with Torts. Henrik has a mind-numbing .850 SVPCT in the shootout. In a game where his offense clearly struggled, wouldnt you want Ottawa to shoot first and always have last licks?
I know, I know, the reasoning is you want the game on his shoulders instead of a shooter, but all he has to do is make one save and the pressure immediately shifts to Ottawa.
Other than that, they had their chances in the game.
POTG - Prust
The Good - Ottawa's effort
The Bad - Our effort for two periods
The Redden - EC's lazy disinterested attempt in the SO. He looked pissed for sitting and then gave it a half ass attempt. This guy has skills but he disappears to often. Give me Avery for Saturday. His energy could have lifted the entire team yesterday; but he wasn't in the lineup.
And why did Staal and Girardi need to play 30 minutes each? McD and Sauer have been doing just fine with 22 - 23 minutes. I think Torts relies too heavily on those two and I trust McD and Sauer out there more than Girardi. Why the big discrepancy in minutes especially in a game with almost no special teams time. Also, I don't love EC but everytime that line performs poorly he cuts his ice time and not Vinny's. Vinny is the worst defensive forward on the team and does little 5 on 5. Torts is playing favorites and that needs to stop.
They get tired mentally and physically, they layback against what they perceive to be a "weaker" opponent for 2 periods and then try to win it in the 3rd. They've been doing this all season.
Clearly the forecheck was shallow at best in the first 2 periods. I kept watching to see if the sens would trap, but no, it was us.
I'm convinced it's not Torts, but the players in these type of letdown games. They basically took the night off and managed to eke out a point.
Win 2 of the next 3 and we are where we need to be. I'm not jumping on the negativity anymore. I think these players will get it done at the end of the day. I like our team.
True, but teams like this, you should get 2 pts., outplayed the whole game...
Happens to the best teams at any point during the season. The idea that there are any gimme games in the NHL is a stupid idea. Sometimes there's a bad night and it doesn't matter if you're Detroit or Vancouver or whoever.
The important thing is that they go back out there and start another winning streak.

Agreed, but they were outworked...too, too many home losses...

Torts follows what his goalie wants. Hanks likes to shoot first. So we shoot first.
I am really impressed by the quality of your broadcast and your team. This thread is also very well done and the discussion is quite mature.
I would like to point out that we Sens fans acknowledge Karlsson's weaknesses and the thread on Spezza vs Karlsson was with respect to OUR team, not the league. We might be a bit homerish but we aren't that bad (I don't think ). It is nice to see him get some praise to confirm we aren't insane when we gush about him..
Anyways, I wish you guys the best; Lundqvist is my favourite goalie and I hope he dominates the playoffs.
