I love the blood spatter effect. I'm really digging it. But a lot of pics that people want are gonna look weird in B&W.

I think the blood splattering is a little too much as it basically covers the entire picture. Also, the Ranger logo should be in it somewhere I feel and the 2nd frame with the Stanley Cup playoffs is kind of dull. Not a bad mock up though.

I like it except is it possible to get a pic of a Ranger currently playing? Mess was the man but lets look to the future not the past.
I don't like it. Don't like the blood splatter/covering the whole image, and it doesn't need to have that many frames (meaning we could have color images). I appreciate the effort; I'm not saying I don't like it to be inconsiderate, but if we're thinking about a playoff avatar, I have to give my honest opinion. That's not how I would do them if I had the software to make a mock up.
That's why I posted it, to see what people thought. It's okay to not like it, lol.
For the person who said we should use only current Rangers, the theme is playing through pain, so I feel it is relevant for any Rangers who have given their all. That aside I only grabbed whatever picture happened to be in front of me when I decided to do a quick mock up.
Anyway as far as not having too many frames go, I generally find most two frame animated avatars boring and unoriginal, so I try to add additional elements to spice it up.
Including the Rangers logo seems superfluous to me. The avatars should imply the team you are rooting for with the theme.
I agree though the blood eventually covering up the picture might be a bit overbearing.
Maybe mix up the blood a touch we had great zombie blood a few years ago but I don't have the template lying around anymore and can't remember who made it (Dank maybe?). Anyway I like the idea of B&W images, it's more gritty.

dont realy like the whole blood splatter thing being so big, maybe have a playoffs logo like this
with the ranger logo on the side with some blood on that?
