Zuccarell-uh-oh

I've noticed the past couple games Zuccarello's ice time has been steadily declining.

Anyone have an idea why?

Is Torts angry at the youngster?

That entire line (Wolski-Stepan-Zuccarello) hasn't been producing lately. Also, clever title.

Gabby has been decent lately, Cally has played out of this world, and we have a strong 4th line.

Stepan is also the worst on FOs in the entire league.

I don't get why Zuke has gotten less ice time lately. He had a three game assist streak going before the Panthers game, but has received a minimum of ice time in the last couple games.

He's struggling out there in all zones. Torts is trying to get the team in the playoffs. I don't think it goes beyond that. If MZA is going to ever be a productive full time NHLer, it's going to be a process.

MZA deserves to get a game or 2 off.

It's his turn.

I don't think it would be the worst thing in the world if Zuccs watched a game from the pressbox. Maybe get Avery in the Bruins game on Saturday and see what he could do after sitting out the last few. Love the kid, but it looks like he's hit a minor wall. Let's hope it's minor at least.

Been waiting for someone to make a Zuccarello, Zuccarello remix of Black and Yellow.

Avery BETTER be in there over Zuc against a physical team like Boston.

I would like to see Zuke in a line with Callahan or Gaborik. I hope next year will be his year. Hope he does his things good in camp, and gets going from the first game of the season.

Last night he only got about 7 minutes ice time, and about 20 seconds in the third period. It can´t be easy taking a deciding penalty shot when you have been sitting on the bench for more than a period.....

Next game will be his 41st - half of the regular season games - I´ve heard som rumours that when he hits 50% of regular season games, he receives another bonus. Will this effect the Rangers cap-hit? If so, I fear he has played his last game this season.....

Zuccarello-Aasen hasn't played a good game in a long while.

zucca, and his whole lines ice times have been purely indicative of their play on the ice in all three zones, personally i dont like that line combo. i dont see stepan matching well with zucca and wolski, all three are good playmakers with good speed but they have not gelled at all, i understand other lines have been playing well but its the playoffs stretch and we need to roll 4 lines, torts has gotta switch something up. and i agree with people above, wouldnt mind having zucca watching a couple games from up high.

Its because Wolski and Zuccarello are not very dependable defensively.

Late in a tied or 1 goal game they're ice time gets reduced.

THIS...

I can say with confidence from here on out with a lead or late in the games, these guys will see less time.

I dont think it has anything to do with being in the doghouse, I even remember a shift late in the game by these guys yesterday where Torts tried to use them well rested as a spark...

It's all about the ability to play a two way game when torts starts rolling 3 lines, and when the Rangers clinch a spot I'm pretty **** sure wolski and Zucca will get plenty of minutes as he tries to ease the burden off dubi and cally

I'm sure all the lines will be broken up this weekend. Expect Avery back.

Both Wolski and Zuuc need someone more physical to play with. Boyle?

Saying that Zuke-Step-W2 line is bad on defence does not sound right for me, they've let in 1-2 odd goals in the last 10-15 games. If anything its Calla and Gaborik lines thats strugeling on D.

he hasnt really been effective

that whole line has pretty much been a non-factor for a few games now

infact, the only moment i really remember Zuc standing out last night was at the beginning or end of one shift when he made a nice quick pass to dubinsky

Have you been watching the games,or reading the stat sheet? Goals against and +/- doesn't tell the whole story. The team as a whole hasn't let up many goals lately, but that line gives up a lot of good scoring chances to the opponent. And the Callahan line strugles on defense? That just proves your not watching them play.

The main issues with Zuccarello are what I've been trying to say since he was called up.

He needs to improve his skating and he needs to get stronger.

He has great hands and vision and a decent shot. But if he can't improve his skating and strength he will never make it in the NHL with the size and speed of the game.

Zuc has actually been pretty terrible IMO. He is the main reason that line's production is come to a halt. He is making bad decisions with the puck (i.e. bad passes, not shooting), not creating scoring chances like he previously was, and just being overwhelmed by other bigger players.

Maybe he has hit the wall. How long are the seasons in the Swedish Elite League?

Yes I've watched every game and it's almost always Gaborik, Calla or Dubi on the ice when the opponent scores. Just a small week ago the calla-dubi line let in 5 goals and scored only 1, 5 goals!
