Goalies... you get what you pay for.

Shooters... we just have never had a lot of guys that excelled at that type of play (dangling).

Independent of that, Briere's move the other night was quite good... he gave him a quick shift to open the legs and then put it right through him.

Yeah, if you know Briere is going 5 hole the entire time, then yes, it should've been stopped. However, if you are forced to open your legs to stay with him as he progresses through a series of shooting opportunities....then it's a pretty damn solid goal.

Sometimes you can't help but get opened up.

buy we DID know he was going 5-hole, JJ said looks like the flyers know something about fleury's 5-hole and how the flyers were looking for it, just before briere went.

I think it was more of a rock-paper-scissors thing...if i go rock two times in a row, a lot of people will not expect me to do it a 3rd time...

So basically what you're saying is we didn't know if he was going five hole?

Fleury certainly wasn't making that assumption, and had he made it a point to defend nothing but the five hole, Briere would've scored elsewhere.

What is our record in shoot-outs?
What is the rangers?

I'm guessing if we won even 1/3 of the shootout losses we have, the division and conference are wrapped up

We are 3-7 in the shootout this season.

Rangers are 9-3.

Good thing there are no shootouts in the playoffs. If there were, the Flyers would be sunk.

agreed. but this isn't a good enough excuse moving forward. they need to work on shootouts for next year. 3-8 is 8 points down the drain that this team has enough skill to grab.

I don't expect them to win all of them, but 1/2 would be nice.

The shootout is all about specialists. The Rangers have Christensen who is something like 57% for his career, Wolski who was very good with Colorado in the shootout and usually Zuccarello.

Giroux is 2/9 this year, the suggestion that he is good in the shootout is laughable. When I watch Giroux come in it looks like somebody who doesn't know what he wants to do, and just stick handles until the goalie shows something.

Honestly they are pretty predictable, Briere doesn't ever lift it in the shootout. Richards likes to take the wrister or go hard to the backhand. Giroux, likes to use his hands to make the goalie blink first, when it works it's a highlight when it doesn't he usually loses the puck making the extra move.
